“Regular cycling is an anti-aging pill” reports @BBCWorld New research show 80-year old regular cyclists to have the immune system and body fat levels of people in their 20’s. Cycling is good for you! bbc.co.uk/news/health-43…
The latest TfL budget update proposes a £473m cut to healthy streets. That means cuts to making our streets safer for pedestrians, cleaning up our air, and making our streets nicer places to live, work and play. In a climate emergency, this is a disgrace.
Jack Monroe: A basic food shop has nearly doubled since 2012.. benefits & wages haven't doubled in that time.. so people are having to make decisions about missing meals in order to feed their children.. it's shocking to talk about this in 1 of the richest economies in the world
We need to get private cars off our roads for London to become a world leader on climate. Me for the @guardian today: theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
Cycle lanes are not "for cyclists". They are to provide people who currently drive a safe & attractive alternative. They reduce traffic, pollution and CO2 emissions and make towns better places for everyone. buff.ly/3517SN1
We must organise the unorganised. We can stop the race to the bottom by organising workers in the service sector, including hospitality, and raising the floor. There will be no ‘no-go’ areas for @unitetheunion
There is very high pollution in London today. You can help by leaving your car at home and choosing a cleaner way to travel. 41% of car trips starting in the borough are below 2km – switching to walking or cycling these can help minimise pollution.
This is utterly infuriating. 🚲🤸♀️👩🏽🦯Don’t tell people not to exercise outdoors (aka ride their bikes to work), 🚗💨🚗💨just make it very clear that driving a car is an extremely bad idea (tomorrow and every day) in a city with so many public transport options.
Londoners warned to limit outdoor exercise on Friday as Government UK Air website forecasts a rare episode of “very high" pollution standard.co.uk/news/london/lo…
Update on the accident at Chelsea Embankment/Battersea Bridge, earlier today. I understand TfL are now looking urgently into improving safety at this dangerous junction further, notably for cyclists. I’m watching closely and send my best wishes to the injured.
How many more deaths and injury before that junction gets protection?
Battersea Bridge has been blocked in both directions due to an accident. Initial reports suggest that a lorry has hit a cyclist, but this has not been confirmed. #accident #battersea #chelsea #Traffic
Note that the climate "solutions" pushed by the media and politicians are the ones that boost capitalism, such as "more EVs," whereas the real solutions are suppressed b/c they require less consumption, more equity, and a rapid, deliberate, just end to the fossil fuel industry.
Live in London? There’s no good reason to own an SUV. youtu.be/RtJECy7aHwc

There is a large group of people in the Netherlands who also benefit from the well-designed cycling infrastructure: people with disabilities. The cycle tracks offer them protection from motorized traffic, and thus a freedom to independently move around. bicycledutch.wordpress.com/2012/12/06/who…
