Isn't it time to give moles more legal protection? Should 'molecatchers' be a thing of the past? The killing of this much loved native mammal is shockingly inhumane and unnecessary. Retweet if you agree. #loveformoles #moles #ecosystem #biodiversity

Wildlife pond close to filling. Nearly finished the landscaping, and then the fun bit of introducing aquatic and marginal native plants.

Today my first displaying Goshawk of the year in north of the Forest of Dean. This female was unusual in that outer tail feathers are not fully grown - looking a bit like a Pomarine skua's tail. #glosbirds

This week’s beautiful #Winterwatch footage of caddis has captured something I didn’t realise: there are tiny gaps between the case fragments through which the gill filaments can protrude and capture oxygen. Don’t this has been filmed previously @ChrisGPackham @BBCSpringwatch

Watched this Dabchick catch 3 three-spined Sticklebacks in 10 minutes today at Magor Marsh. Due to the spines being erected, each fish had to be killed first to enable swallowing @GwentWildlife

Thanks to good (organic) farming, leaving long tussocky grass not heavily grazed, Skylarks have recolonised the farm where I live. We're on the cusp of losing Nightingale from Highnam Woods nr Gloucester, where I recorded ave of 15 singing males 2006-10, just 2 in 2021 @GmusicV

Why nature is getting quieter: "Long-term biodiversity loss, as well as shifts in species’ habitats in response to climate change, are fast altering the soundscapes of the natural world." theconversation.com/we-reconstruct…
