A High Risk of rip currents continues for area beaches through Sunday night, and high surf conditions are possible from Thursday night into Sunday. Hurricane Rafael over the northwestern Caribbean is expected to weaken this weekend while moving towards the northwestern Gulf.

Tropical Storm Rafael will become a hurricane this evening. The storm is expected to continue to strengthen through Wednesday as it approaches western Cuba. It is expected to maintain hurricane strength as it moves into the southeast Gulf on Wednesday night into Thursday.

A High Risk of rip currents continues for area beaches through Saturday night, and high surf is likely by Thursday night. Tropical Storm Rafael in the central Caribbean is expected to become a hurricane tonight then move into the southeastern Gulf Wednesday night into Thursday.

11/4- 4 pm Update-Tropical Depression 18 has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Rafael with the 3pm advisory. The storm is expected to continue to strengthen through Wednesday as it approaches western Cuba.
