Again, spot on analysis of the hopelessness - over generations - of Irish infrastructure planning/politics. So mediocre are our politicians/planners that pretty much anything to do w population growth - housing, education, health care, pensions & even immigration is beyond them.
More abdication of leadership in the aviation industry in Ireland. @SimonHarrisTD @FineGael time to intervene and raise the passenger cap @DublinAirport on an interim basis. Low-cost airline Jet2 squeezed out of Dublin Airport due to passenger cap independent.ie/business/irish…
Why isn't this top of all the news bulletins? Is the corporate media downplaying a story which would weaken the "side" they are supporting in the pay battle? Or do they just consider this to be "normal" at this stage and not big news? irishtimes.com/business/2024/…
Enough is enough. The resolution to this dispute is a meaningful pay increase inline with inflation. Pilots deserve to protect their pay. #StrongerTogether
Aerlingus chief executive Lynne Embleton received almost €300,000 worth of shares in IAG as part of a bonus scheme in the last few days as the Aerlingus Pilots strike for pay increases to match inflation. @bridsmithTD #Aerlingus
Superb analysis by @davidmcw Reminiscent of one of JFK’s finest: “No American is ever made better off by pulling a fellow American down, and every American is made better off whenever any one of us is made better off. A rising tide raises all boats.” open.spotify.com/episode/0o6fKH…
bbc.co.uk/news/articles/… “AirEuropa Plane diverted to Brazil after turbulence injures 30” Following this incident of exceedingly rare severe turbulence, BALPA is resurfacing its message that pilots put safety first, both in and outside the cockpit.
As a member of @IFALPA, ALPA Canada is proud to support the @IALPA pilots of @AerLingus in their fight for fair wages and improved working conditions.
Pilots have the right to protect their pay. #StrongerTogether
IALPA President Capt Mark Tighe on the way into meetings with the Labour Court says the pilots were willing to move on their demands, and claims Aer Lingus have, so far, yet to do so.
@AerLingus is making bumper profits and punching well above their weight with the 4th biggest network between the EU and US. Executive management pay package increased by 66% from 2019 to 2024. It’s time to increase your pilots pay! 2 years talking, Deal now! @eu_cockpit @IFALPA

We offer unwavering @ALPAPilots support to @IALPA Aer Lingus pilots as they continue fighting for a new agreement with a notoriously anti-union airline. @AerLingus management needs to reach a fair and equitable agreement with them now! bit.ly/3XDCdKT #StrongerTogether
We had hoped the company would come to their senses but they haven’t. All that is left for the pilots is to express their rights is to take this route. #StrongerTogether #PilotUnity .
Aer Lingus pilots are looking for improvments to their terms and conditions. After negotiating for months it is more than reasonable to expect @AerLingus management to listen to their pilots and deliver to the table a proper deal.
Aer Lingus pilots begin work to rule from next Wednesday. Indefinitely. Pay claim is for 24%, which equates to inflation since last pay rise in 2019. While @AerLingus increased profits by 400% to €255 million last year. @IALPA
“We are in this position because management have failed to provide us with a meaningful offer on pay that accounts for inflation and the sacrifices made by pilots to save @AerLingus during the pandemic,” @IALPA President CA Mark Tighe said. independent.ie/business/irish…

.@AerLingus pilots have voted YES (99%) to industrial action, up to strikes. If management agree to a fair pay deal, this can be averted. How did our members in @IALPA get here? - No pay rise since 2019 - Bumper profits but won’t match wages to inflation thejournal.ie/aer-lingus-pil…
