This follows a previous similar study, where we had the opportunity to participate, describing several resurrected #CRISPR Cas9 nucleases ranging from ~37 through 2.600 My ago. This collaborative study about Cas9 ancestors was published in @NatureMicrobiol nature.com/articles/s4156…
The Raúl Pérez Jiménez lab at @CICbioGUNE did it again, after resurrecting Cas9 ancestors in 2023, @YleniaJabalera et al they just report a new resurrected Cas12a CRISPR nuclease ancestor that could have existed ~3.000 My ago. Published in @NatureBiotech nature.com/articles/s4158…
Thrilled to see the special issue on "CRISPR Trials" at @CRISPRjournal! In addition to many papers of great topicality, you can find our open-access Perspective with @LluisMontoliu and @idemiguelb on the affordability problem of CRISPR therapies. Link👇 liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/cr…
The October 2024 issue (anchored by the Urnov guest editorial) is a special issue on "CRISPR Trials": liebertpub.com/toc/crispr/7/5 We'll cover all the research, reviews and perspective in subsequent posts.

I invite you to watch this online webinar which I delivered recently for the students of the @VHIR_ master on "CRISPR Universe: where are we today? From scissors to bridges" where I summarized the current state-of-art of #CRISPR and related technologies. youtube.com/watch?v=GljHge…
Sharing a new article, a review on the ethical aspects of geneome alterations (incl. gene editing) approaches applied to animal reproduction research. I will discuss about these issues at the 17th International Conference of #AERA aera.org.es/17-congreso-in… pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39396877/
Our last article in @CRISPRjournal on the #accessibility #affordability and #equity for the novel #CRISPR based gene therapies. Therapies are here but are not affordable for many. This is an ethical issue to be solved now. @idemiguelb @ruetxe #OpenAccess liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/cr…
From the members of the Task Force on Research Integrity within @ScienceEurope Research Culture workin group we have published a position statement entitled “Integrity at the Heart of Healthy and Effective Research Cultures” available through this web page scienceeurope.org/our-resources/…
Yesterday we learnt that the great French scientist and mouse geneticist Jean-Louis Guénet had passed at the nursing home where he was living. He was 85 years old. His contributions to mouse genetics have been numerous and relevant. He contributed to identifying many genes. RIP.
After #CRISPR standard editing, epigenetic editing, base editing and prime editing now we have #bridge RNA editing, derived from a bacteria minitransposon called IS. Recently reported by Patrick D Hsu laboratory @Nature My comments in @sciencemedia_es sciencemediacentre.es/en/new-genome-…

The videos with all talks of the recent World Conference on #Bioethics in Gijón available in #YouTube Thanks @isolina_riano & #SIBI por organizing it. Talks by @FrancoiseBaylis Alta Charo, Hervé Chneiweiss, Ewa Bartnik, @JennyMerchant me et al. @ArrigeOrg youtube.com/@sociedadinter…
And we had a grand finale for the World Conf. on Bioethics with Alta Charo, member of @ArrigeOrg scientific council who delivered a very interesting and well-thought talk on the sustainability of the novel #CRISPR and gene therapies and ways of reducing their astronomical prices.
Herve Chneiweiss is presenting and promoting @ArrigeOrg among the participants at the XII World Conference on Bioethics
Hervé Chneiweiss, Chair of the @Inserm Ethics Committee and vicepresident of @ArrigeOrg is presenting at the XII World Conference of Bioethics in Gijón (Asturias) different aspects of #CRISPR genome editing, including gene drive issues, aiming to public good and safe applications
The #CRISPR & #GeneTherapy fields are facing the debates on accessibility and affordability. The issue is no longer scientific or technical but economic and social. I invite you to read the white paper on this topic written by the @ArrigeOrg sci committee arrige.org/documents/
If you are interested in the #bioethics and #legal issues associated with genome editing #CRISPR you should not miss the XII World Conference on Bioethics organized by SIBI in Gijón (Asturias, Spain) on May 13-15 and chaired by @isolina_riano Register now sibi.org/xii-congreso-m…
