Looking forward to convening this session on the "Sensitivity of the East Antarctic Ice Sheet to Past, Present and Future Climate Change" at European Geosciences Union (EGU) 2025. Please consider submitting an abstract! meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU25/session/…

Not enjoying the darker evenings because of the clock change? Spare a thought for those in Svalbard, Norway where the sun now won't rise again until the 15th February 2025! 😅

New Tools of the Trade article in @NatRevEarthEnv where I outline how satellite altimeters like @NASA_ICE #ICESat2 and @esa_cryosat #CryoSat2 can detect and monitor subglacial hydrology beneath ice sheets💧🛰❄️ rdcu.be/dXF7t

Fun session today with @ChrisRawlinsPri primary school today answering all sorts of questions from 10-11 year olds about what it's like being an #Antarctic scientist (living in the #Arctic)! 🇦🇶👩‍💻🛰🌨 #scicomm @Polar_Research

Great to see this work out from Anirudha @NPIglaciology!

❄️ JGLAC paper alert ❄️ “Supraglacial lake evolution and its drivers in Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica” by Anirudha Mahagaonkar, Geir Moholdt, Quentin Glaude, Thomas Schuler @anirudhavm @NPIglaciology @NorskPolar @GlaudeQuentin @ClimatoULiegedoi.org/10.1017/jog.20…

💡New paper alert!💡 I'm thrilled to share that paper #2 of my PhD is now published in JGR Earth Surface! doi.org/10.1029/2024JF… If you're interested in subglacial lakes, grounding zone dynamics and what happens beneath the margins of the Antarctic ice sheet - read on! 🧵👇

Looking forward to joining #cryo2ice symposium in Reykjavik 🇮🇸 next week @NASA_ICE @esa_cryosat discussing #ICESat2 and #Cryosat2 applications for studying ice shelf and ice sheet dynamics, including tracking hydrology! 🛰 💧 🧊 🇦🇶

'Office glaciologists' are important too! Great post from @abraleey 👨‍💻

When you hear the job 'Glaciologist' we all picture the vast white of Antarctica, but @abraleey gives us an insight into the life of a Glaciologist, who views the Antarctic from the models they make. Have a read here! blogs.egu.eu/divisions/cr/2…

#SCAR2024 session 6 'Interactions between ice shelves and oceans: current state and future projections' later today Tuesday 20th. Lots of awesome science lined up! 🌊🧊 Hope many of you will be attending 🇨🇱 @SCAR_Tweets 🇦🇶 @NKrauzig @ariaanpurich

Incredible opportunity for women aged 21 to28 to participate in glacier research and expedition in the Himalayas. Apply by August 31, 2024, to gain hands-on experience in this unique field. icimod.org/event/cryosphe…

Discussion open for comments on @EgUsphere: Evidence of active subglacial lakes under a slowly moving coastal region of the Antarctic Ice Sheet doi.org/10.5194/egusph…

Our new paper is available for pre-print on @EGU_TC EGUsphere! We find evidence for new active subglacial lakes beneath the Antarctic Ice Sheet using @NASA_ICE ICESat-2💧❄️🇦🇶 🛰 @NorskPolar @NORCEresearch egusphere.copernicus.org/preprints/2024…

Have a look at our new research! A huge project led by @Doemgaard shows the longest historical reconstruction of glaciers in Antarctica. This part of East Antarctica has been remarkably stable during the last 85 years, but signs of weaknesses are showing.. nature.com/articles/s4146…

Landfast sea ice mechanically strengthens floating ice tongues and makes them bend less with ocean tides. Less fast ice in future = unstable ice tongues? Great article by @RGFell et al t.ly/a3QZ4 ❄️🌊

Come and check out my talk tomorrow afternoon in Session CR2.1 💧🛰

I'll be presenting at @EuroGeosciences #EGU2024 next Wednesday 17 April at 10.55 CET on subglacial lake activity in East #Antarctica using laser altimetry. 🛰💦🇦🇶 Always a great surface/basal hydrology session at EGU, looking forward to interesting discussions!
