Love this!

I’ve been struggling to teach multiplying mixed numbers in a conceptual way. They get so confused by the area model. Apparently the answer is sticky notes. #thinkingclassroom #mtbos

Avoid Main Street if you are coming to Maryville this weekend. Use the bypass roads. #oabaab

7th grader: "I thought Simulcasting was bad, but coming back has been much harder. There was no lead-up, just "Poof, you're 12!" Everyone looks and acts so different now. It feels like I leased age 11 instead of getting to own the experience."

#specialeducation #inclusionmatters I enjoyed watching my friends w/ special needs be included in their class's 1st quarter award ceremonies today! @HydeElem is so loving, accepting, and KIND. I love this school! 😃

Love this!

Art teachers/all teachers can support literacy too. Here is a little display that I set up in my art room that will hopefully spark a conversation about books/my reading life. Perhaps it will even shift a reluctant readers perspective on reading. Who knows? Can’t hurt…

#specialeducation My reading group just finished their cross-curricular math unit of @iReady math reading activities! We read the performance task, figured out vocabulary words and what we had to do, then wrote a letter to @HydePrincipal explaining how we solved it!

Absolutely LOVE this!!!

Last week I picked the most disinterested kid in my yr9 class & made him co pilot for all our lessons; my go-to for commentary, task length, opinion, everything. Yesterday he wasn't in. Today, he FOUND me to say that everyone had updated him & asked for his views. His face man 😀

So accurate!

Today, in Target's parking lot: GUY: Sign this petition for Voter ID? ME: Do I have to show ID to sign it? GUY: No. ME: So how do you know I'm a voter? GUY: We verify name, address, and sig via the voter registry. ME: You just explained why Voter ID is not necessary.

One of the first steps in connecting with a challenging student… is to LIKE them, rather than “put up” with them. It’s amazing how the attitude of the adult can affect the attitude of the kid.

Very true. Although many of my special students thrive best in the latter classroom, there r kids who learn best with the former as well (like my daughter). Both kinds love their kids and are wonderful teachers. 🙂

WHAT???? 🤔🤔😵‍💫😵‍💫🤮🤮

BREAKING: A top administrator in a Texas school district tells teachers that if they teach about the Holocaust they must also teach books about the "opposing" view on the subject. RT IF YOU THINK THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!
