"Not everybody finds deep meaning in their suffering. Not everyone finds suffering to be redemptive. Sometimes people’s pain becomes an opportunity for spiritual growth, but sometimes it breaks them."

The Torah portion Jews read this Shabbat invites us to ask: Is there always meaning to be found in suffering? And if not, what then? Where does that leave us? Some searing (shocking, even) insights from the Aish Kodesh on the matriarch Sarah: lifeisasacredtext.substack.com/p/too-much-salt

This is massive

#PopeFrancis confirms he intends to publish a new document, "a second Laudato Si'" on Oct. 4, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi and the end of the monthlong Season of Creation, which begins Sept. 1, the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.

Walkable communities with safe streets and mixed-use buildings aren't expensive because they're elitist—they’re expensive because they're desirable, yet scarce due to zoning, permitting, and parking regulations. Let’s legalize this traditional style of development again!

Let’s #PrayTogether for beleaguered Ukraine, where the war is destroying everything, even grain, while the cry of millions of hungry brothers and sisters rises to Heaven.

this is very bad news for Ukraine and its push to continue grain exports to world markets without its key seaports, after Russia blew up the Black Sea grain deal

Last night Moscow attacked two key Ukrainian #grain terminals on the Danube. This time they are really trying to limit Ukrainian exports. The Danube is the key export route with monthly capacity of 2+ mmt. CBOT #wheat +4%. #oatt

Heat indexes pushing 100 degrees are possible later this week. Minimize time outside if possible, stay hydrated, and NEVER leave your children or pets unattended in a vehicle.

Becoming hot and humid by the middle of this upcoming week. Highs will rise to the upper 80s to mid 90s with heat indices in the 90s to around 100. Scattered showers and storms are possible from mainly mid afternoon into the evening each day.

I deeply regret Russia’s decision to terminate the implementation of the Black Sea Initiative, which has been a lifeline for global food security in a troubled world. Hundreds of millions facing hunger & consumers confronting a global cost-of-living crisis will pay the price.

Impunity for the genocide of 2003-2004 helped bring about today’s mass atrocities. We must not make the same mistakes again. RSF and its aligned forces must be held accountable.

All data in this report indicate that RSF + aligned forces have often been the only forces in the area There are no other actors assessed to be able to commit these atrocities @HRL_YaleSPH concludes the actions detailed in this report can be attributed to RSF + aligned forces

This is a shameful moment on the House floor. Rep. Eli Crane referring to Black service members who risk their lives for our country as ‘colored people’ is unconscionable. The GOP fights against diversity, equity and inclusion training and prove everyday why it’s necessary.

Crane: My amendment has nothing to do with whether or not colored people or black people or anybody can serve. Beatty: I would like those words stricken from the record
