I'm pleased with the chess activity at City Central (Hanley), Tunstall and Kidsgrove Libraries that were initiated with sets provided by @schoolschess Hanley is the hub of Stoke-on-Trent with a vibrant community. Despite this it has never had a chess club but we're getting there

Men love words of affirmation too. Men love random hugs and cuddles. Men love thoughtful gifts too. Men love reassurance too. Men love to be spoiled too. Men love attention and pampering. Men have emotions too. But you’ll never get this as a man if you don’t know you deserve it.

I was greeted with some lively remarks this afternoon when I arrived at the City Central Library to run the regular chess session. The reason was my very tasteful headgear tailored by my friend Damiola. This lovely and popular guy went to school with @Tunde_OD in Lagos, Nigeria

To recruit a women's team of 6 so quickly (see my last post) was amazing. Such a positive response from a diverse group of players though Bernice and Ivie are both Ambassadors for @thegiftofchess in Africa. Emma, Anvi and Hande are also students. Natallie's a young career woman

Yesterday I found inspiration from failure. North Staffs Knights who I captain in the World Chess League lost a third time so I picked a ladies team of six Emma Kong (Wales) @BerniceWambui22 @chesswitivie @Natalliepowell Hande Donmez (Reading Uni) Anvi Prabhakaran (England) GL!

The finals of the UK Blitz Championships 2024 are tomorrow Saturday 16th November in Leamington Spa. There's an Open and Women's final, each having 16 players with 15 games in an all play all format. I wanted to wish the best of luck to one of our local lads Jacob Connor Boswell

Latest female match with the talented @BerniceWambui22 Kenyan u18 Girls Champion. I lost to more accurate play but missed mate in 3 in game 1 and played a couple of brilliant moves in a Morra Gambit in game 2 including the signature Nd5 that @Tunde_OD would have been proud off

I'm delighted that I've played three ladies in the last few days online, new contact @Natalliepowel , rising star of Coventry Academy Anvi Prabhakaran (a North Staffs Knight) and neuroscience student Megan. Game soon with @chesswitivie we want more women playing @AgaMilewska123

I’ve got great news😊

I met this incredibly smart 11 year old girl in an IDP camp in Yola, Adamawa who speaks fluent English and has great dreams like all of us. But i worry that if she remains there, she may become another untold story. She has the kind of heart that changes the world❤️

Books and chess are such a great combination! @ehscho Chess has proved to be a great hit in libraries @schoolschess provided sets for three libraries where I've run sessions for the public. This led to the recruitment of six people into local chess clubs. Library comps on the way

Amazing news about Dennis Hassabis the creator of the revolutionary chess AI Alpha zero. He's won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry. Please watch the video that tells us that chess skills might be training the brain for the next scientific revolution @gmmds @Tunde_OD @ECFonlinechess

I got the idea to research GMs per capita to compare countries standings from @MagnusCarlsen and sadly England were outdone by most of Europe. @jonbchess drew my attention to Iceland but I missed many other impressive nations so here's the full European picture @ECFonlinechess

Chapter 30 🎂 (I guess this is the decade one starts sleeping 2 minutes into every movie) Grateful for a life filled with love, kindness and endless wonder. I’ll still keep nurturing this little light of mine until the whole world comes into it.
