You'll likely find me in a kitchen or restaurant, when I'm not advocating on higher ed. I plan my trips around food. Now Gluten-Free &corn-free(not by choice).

First day in NYC for a Girls Trip. Shopping at the Macy’s Flagship was a bust. Dinner at a totally gluten free Italian restaurant was a win!sen

Got my annual COVID/flu shot. Never reacted to the flu shot but the COVID one gives me a headache, nausea, and slight fever. Always a #silverlining, couldn’t feel worse so a little dairy couldn’t make it worse. Gluten-free brownie a la mode it is!

Has anyone made egg cups? Will they really last all week? Debating making some bacon and veggies cups but wondering if they really stay good all week? cafedelites.com/wprm_print/479…

I strongly suspected I’d developed a rice intolerance. Doctor told me the only way to figure out intolerances is through elimination diets. Given what I feel like within an hour of eating rice, I’m going to assume I guessed right. This is getting ridiculous.

I apparently have a private IMAX screening of Blue Beetle! The Blue Beetle actor is an alum of CLYLP, a program I volunteered with annually for over a decade! Hope you all get a chance to watch a Latino superhero!

I really miss sushi and poke but with my serious shellfish allergy, I don’t get to eat it anymore. Bought my own sushi grade tuna, marinated it in coconut aminos and made my own version of poke!

No trip to Chicago is complete without a trip to Frontera Grill for the best cochinita pibil ANYWHERE. I’m probably going to regret the cafe de olla when I can’t sleep tonight.

after 4 folks told me this was the best carnitas in Chicago had to get GrubHub to deliver. I still prefer the ones Tony’s family made us for decades (Jalisco Cafe in Oakland) but these are good enough that I started to tear up after not having carnitas since moving to DC!

There wasn’t a dinner function at the conference, and I’d already seen Flamin’ Hot which they are showing tonight, so I got myself a spot at the bar at Girl and the Goat! Last dish is crispy pig face, which I’d had before, and is amazing !

This daughter of immigrants will always be grateful for the opportunities afforded her. I know working collectively we can make the US better so she fulfills her promise to all. Happy Independence Day!

Charlottesville is less than three percent Latino. We found the new upscale restaurant that celebrates South & Central (Latin American) cuisine.

Mom and I decided to stay in Virginia. One of the things I’ve missed most is wine country. So we tried a couple of wineries on the Monticello Wine Trail.

How very sad.

News is breaking around the #Sacramento restaurant community that Chris Jarosz has passed away. RIP to the founder of Broderick Roadhouse, Bones Craft Kitchen and other spots as well.

One of the things I love/hate about meat boxes is getting new cuts of meat. I’m proud of my first double cut pork chop. Of course, Ferdinand and I will be eating this for lunch and dinner! And yes, there’s a side salad.

Meeting former HACU colleagues for drinks here later. Decided to treat myself to dinner. This meal practically has me in tears of joy! @CPSteakDC

Day/Night 15 of exercise. Candlelit evening stretching followed by evening slow flow yoga. Hopefully I’ll sleep like a baby!

Between work, the move, the dog, volunteer stuff, and life in general haven’t had time to really cook. Tonight made time for caramalized brussel sprouts and steak. Will say this about induction- heats quicker than even my beloved gas stove.

That moment you try to grill lunch only to realize none of your grill pans work on the induction stove. That was a massive fail - thought I had tested all pans before I moved.

I’m only on hour one of the corned beef being in the slow cooker and I can already tell it’s going to be a long 8 hours until it’s ready

Dinner at 7:30 came out of a to go bag and since I haven’t unpacked my wine glasses, the wine is in a juice glass. It was that type of week.
