Today is the LAST day to pre-order my book, Crocus Valley, before it rises to full price! ICYMI: 'Crocus Valley' is a love letter to Croydon, an unexpected perspective – more romantic, more wild – of this much-maligned London borough. Find out more: rrbphotobooks.com/collections/pl…

One of my favourite photography commissions to date 🐑💜

NEW: In 1971, a boatful of feral sheep was transported from St Kilda to the Scottish mainland. Their descendants then vanished. This is the story of the Lost Flock – and the Orkney residents who saved their primitive genes. inkcapjournal.co.uk/meet-the-islan…

What a pleasant surprise to see this, albeit a couple of weeks late!

#ReadingList | Crocus Valley "This story is a love letter. It’s a view of this cultural and generational patchwork quilt of a place that’s supposedly empty of such romance." @AmeenaRojee's photobook on Croydon is published by @RRBPhotobooks: rrbphotobooks.com/products/ameen…

So much love for the @TishMurthafilm - an incredible documentary about the brilliant photographer @tishmurtha Important that her story & work is told & celebrated. I am so inspired & moved.

I fell into a website redesign black hole this past week. Thoughts? ameenarojee.co.uk

Some recent photography for a local community project, loved this 💜

“He said, ‘I need someone to run the pet shop and we've decided it's you.’…he said, ‘I'll be with you for a week, talk you through things’. My goodness, that wasn't long enough!” – Marion, talking owning Rover’s Return pet shop on Station Road which she ran for 10 years.

It’s only taken me a 1.5 years lads but finally updated my website. If you fancy a nosey joannecoates.co.uk/lie-of-the-lan… But also I want to make the website more Like a gallery space & that is beyond my capabilities so I’m looking for an excellent web designer interested in social design

Nah because this is the biggest compliment of my life 🥺🥺🥺🥺 cannot speak of how much I love Tish’s work, how she should have been funded and championed. Bawling.

Great interview and how typical of Ella to give a shout out to other working class photographers too. "I also really admire Joanne Coates – she reminds me of my mam. She has the same fire in her belly, intelligence, and speaks with total honesty". @tishmurtha @JoanneRCoates

A reminder… for those photographer or artists who still live under the poverty line or who struggle daily… it’s ok to not be at Paris Photo. I have the biggest commission of my life, & exciting things happening but I’m still milking cows this weekend, quiet activism & 📸

I didn't know it was created by the Horniman family!

#ParkHillPark is a 16 acre park with a historic Walled Garden, now a community garden, created by the Horniman Family, founders of the world famous @HornimanMuseum It’s 5 min walk from @fairfield_halls, & both East Croydon & South Croydon Stations. #Croydon’s not all concrete!

I recently visited local artist Kate Marsden in her studio at ASC Grafton Road for a chat about the transformation of her work, and to see her exhibition ‘Captive: an exploration of grief, loss and confined emotion’ which is on until 22 December. 💖👉 croydonist.co.uk/kate-marsden-a…

Artists, I'm tired of pretending like I (we,you) don't have a day job, or that having one in any way makes you less of a real artist in some way. I'm proud to be blue collar. I don't think we should hide it if we are.

I'm back from an exhilarating and exhausting few days in the Cairngorms with the Following Nan crew (instagram.com/following_nans…). A little teaser while I recover, can't wait to share the photographs 🌿

It's time! Tomorrow I'm off on an expedition into Scotland's lush Cairngorms with a group of women, exploring a slower way of experiencing the "living mountain", inspired by Nan Shepherd's iconic book. If you can, donate to support the project here: gofundme.com/f/following-na…
