Starting a new TDA project? Need persistent homology on cubical complexes and a custom filtration in C++? Or just a Rips filtration but in parallel and using Python? Wading through all those repos giving you a headache? 1/3

I'm very excited to announce that our latest pre-print just went up on the arxiv, joint work with @haharrington and Ulrike Tillmann. Grounded persistent path homology: a stable, topological descriptor for weighted digraphs arxiv.org/abs/2210.11274

‘Words as sweet as honey’

this is bc allegedly, when ambrose was an infant a swarm of bees landed on his face. instead of freaking out that his son's face was covered in bees, ambrose's dad took it as a sign that his son would be a great orator one day, for the words he spoke would be as sweet as honey.

Achievement unlocked: featured in one of @viditnanda 's legendary paper threads. Had a lot of fun sharing this work at the @atmcs10 conference this week, and even more fun seeing all the great work done in the area of Morse theory by our talented TDA community!

1/ Here's a picturesque thread to celebrate a brand new paper with my fantastic student @AmbroseYim One of our secret motivations was the gradient descent algorithm which powers all of modern machine learning... arxiv.org/abs/2206.10198

Respect @uksciencechief for reaching out to the public to clarify the role of scientific advisors in public health decision making. Public trust in the good faith of scientists indispensable when difficult decisions lie ahead.

Epidemiological modellers have an unenviable task in trying to make sense of COVID-19 and its impact on our society. Read my article in the @thetimes setting out how SAGE uses this modelling to better understand the COVID-19 pandemic. gov.uk/government/spe…
