I love how engaged the SEPTA YAC is and the fact they have one. It is sad to see another top female transit official, who has served as an inspiration for women in the industry, to step down. I wish her all the best!

Yesterday we thanked @_LeslieRichards for her service to SEPTA. No one can argue that she oversaw the most difficult few years in SEPTA's history. Thank you for guiding the authority through these unprecedented times.

I get asked if we should continue to use the terms “Fiscal Cliff” and “Transit Death Spiral” and my answer continues to be yes. For fare box dependent agencies, this is our reality. Our budget crisis is not due to high costs, it is due to remote work and underfunding transit.

👀 Same crisis, different state. Not everyone drives. Transit needs sustainable funding to keep the local economy strong. planning.septa.org/wp-content/upl…

A preview of things to come in SF.

Due to a lack of state legislative action, Philadelphia's SEPTA transit system faces a $240 m budget shortfall next year. The agency says that—without a solution—it will cut service by 20% & increase fares by 29%. This would be devastating to riders. cbsnews.com/philadelphia/n…

“Quyo said he likes not having to deal with exhausting hours or physical labor, like he did as a Tesla factory worker. Rubio, meanwhile, said she feels safer as a BART bathroom attendant than she did as a driver for a cannabis company, where she once got held at gunpoint.”

I love seeing more transit systems launch online merch stores. Both employees and the public want to represent the transit brand.

MARTA is excited to announce the launch of its first official online merchandise store, providing a new platform for transit fans to express their MARTA pride. The store, now live at itsmartamerch.com, features a diverse selection of branded apparel, accessories, and more,…

I’ve never received so many inquiries from student journalists! “BART is capturing the attention of the next generation of riders by introducing anime mascots, community events, and creative outreach programs that make public transit more engaging and accessible.”

Trying too appeal to younger riders, #BART turns to anime mascots. @SaraKayMartin reports richmondconfidential.org/2024/10/26/ric…
