This is the body of someone who has just been told that their long awaited surgery may be cancelled because of their high BMI - 30.1 (morbidly obese). When are we going to stop using BMI as a measuring tool? It’s so outdated and quite frankly insulting!!

Cried for the first time in a long time at work today. 80-something year old, no food, no heat. Freezing, hungry, forgotten about and still adamant others needed help more than him. This job really does get to you sometimes, and it’s the things you thought it wouldn’t be about

Had to remind a patient that I am human too and didn’t appreciate being spoken to in such a bad way. The actual shock on her face was confusing… should I not have admitted I was human or did she just expect me to take the disrespect lying down?… 💀
