Well, for the first time since I started driving 16 years ago, I no longer own a Volkswagen 😬 Fancied something a bit different, and properly capable of touring this fine country with the fam. Watch this space for some off-road mods – all tasteful, obvs!

A treat to see this completely stock*, base spec Prado 90 in great condition. Skinny tyres, steel rims, no flares. The back to basics look really suits these. Bet it wouldn’t even break a sweat doing The Lap as-is either. Nice! 👍 *Almost, apart from a period ARB bullbar, obvs!

First time towing today. Everyone’s gotta start somewhere, right?! 😂 Took a few attempts to back it on to the driveway… 😬

Nice bit of LandCruiser lineage in the Bunnings car park 👍

This 2019 79 LandCruiser was for sale at a brewery I went to tonight. All the fruit inc. a 3950kg GVM upgrade, tuned V8 diesel, 200W solar setup, 4x lithium batteries and a custom removable canopy for camping. $110,000. Excessive & unnecessary? Probably. Do I want one? Absolutely

Oh and to answer the ‘how does it get out of there?!’ question, you definitely don’t need a crane! It shared the space with an E-Type for many years. Took a few hours but we pushed that out the same entrance. I have photos somewhere. The Merc runs and drives, and access is easy

Well, this is a trip down memory lane! My dad owns this Merc W115, and it was his daily when I was a kid. My booster seat will be in that garage, maybe still in the car. The dust’s got thicker since I last saw it… 😁😬 Hope it sees daylight again soon! youtu.be/gs8GB21t8pQ?si…

Who else enjoyed our meeting with Keith? The absolute gem of a guy who we met and who show us the bedraggled, shed-entombed Mercedes W115 in YouTube episode #1 this week. We're very thankful to him. Our first "behind the scenes" footage is available for Patreon folk later today.

I’ve wanted a spare wheel bag for ages 😎 And quick test of the battery and solar blanket setup - all good! Wanted lithium but went with 135Ah AGM in the end. I’ll have to live with the battery weight literally doubling… 😕

Fitted a Kaon guard to close the factory gap between the 120’s bar and radiator. At least a branch/rock can’t punch through my cooling system now. And hopefully my pulley bearings stand more of a chance on water crossings! Looks way better too. Happy with that 👍

It’s taken me six months to get around to fitting a new clock spring. Which is annoying as it’s so nice not to have a warning light on now. Pretty easy job too. I need to stop procrastinating… 🤦‍♂️

Preparing the Prado for a big trip. Lots to do, including changing all the fluids. Rounded front diff plug put up a fight! Won’t happen again now it’s got a decent replacement

The PR team at @mazdaukpr should have been hosting UK journalists in the Atlas Mountains last week on an epic drive. The earthquake in Morocco postponed the event and Mazda’s focus shifted to to helping the rescue effort. @scotcars reports here. gomw.co.uk/news/2023/09/1…

Thanks again to @vwukpress for hosting a brilliant owners’ gathering in Milton Keynes yesterday. I’m sure @AlexFisk will be pleased to see his old Mk1 Golf 1.5 GL parked in pride of place, too.

Very tasty way to round off a fantastic Father’s Day today. Shame about the crap photos 😂 I’ll never make it as an influencer 🤷‍♂️

Keen on his next classic being a car he knows inside out, my old man’s gone and bought himself another Tiff Needell special. Needs a bit of cosmetic work but otherwise very solid apparently. He’s still got a shed full of spares too – result. Should be a fun project, this one 👍

Well my ‘I’m not buying another car’ managed to last all of 48 hours… #NewCarDay

10/10 would daily

When #Mazda nearly took on the Evo and Impreza... 2000 626 MPS with four-wheel drive and a twin-turbocharged 2.5-litre V6 for (officially) 276hp. Tragically never progressed past a concept.
