"Talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not". So true. My father was a taxi driver too. He moved half way round the world to give his family an opportunity.

Talking with my taxi driver in D.C. this afternoon - He is an immigrant from Ethiopia and it turns out his daughter is a medical student @MayoClinic I’ll always remember what he told me: “Talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not.”

Welcome to twitter Dr Kieran Davis, Dean Faculty of Pain Medicine!

Time to bite the bullet! I’m now officially on Twitter. Looking forward to engaging with my fellow #painmedicine & #anaesthesia colleagues and discussing important topics in the Twittersphere.

I dislike hearing some rheumatologists proudly state they treat inflammatory disease & aren't so fussed re fibro & other pain/fatigue conditions. These overlap & coexist at different timepoints in a person's struggle with chronic rheumatic disease #acr21 twitter.com/CreakyJoints/s…

Managing #pain in #osteoarthritis #inflammatory arthritis is not easy because there are so many different influences to consider: - Fatigue - Disease activity - Weight - Emotions and negative thoughts - Sleep - Physical activity #ACR21

Pleased to publish with my co-authors on the long term results of #multifidus restorative stimulation. Results are robust & sustained. This appears a good option for mechanical #LBP in appropriately selected patients. doi.org/10.1111/ner.13… #chronicpain #pain #neuromodulation

Huge congratulations to Daniel Scali for breaking the Guinness World Record for the World’s Longest Abdominal Plank 9 hours, 9 minutes and 9 seconds! Daniel who has Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), wanted to break the record to raise funds and awareness about chronic pain.

In a recent article I published in Pain Practice, I discuss the technique of radiofrequency neurotomy (RFN) and how using the facet joint capsule as an alternative denervation target can be advantageous: hubs.la/H0LdmBF0 #PainManagement

NICE Guidance on Chronic Primary Pain - let us be clear. CPP is not a single condition; it is myriad of complex problems. It is only a small part of the spectrum of chronic pain. One size does not fit all; individual patient issues are to be acknowledged and managed accordingly.

For many medical professionals the term Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS) is misleading. I recently co-authored an article for academic journal Pain Medicine, explaining why we should use the term Persistent Spinal Pain Syndrome instead: hubs.la/H0KxrJm0

This is a discussion we must have. It's time we stop using the term Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS) and replace it with Persistent Spinal Pain Syndrome (PSPS). For many of us the term FBSS as a diagnostic label is inadequate, misleading and trouble…lnkd.in/dgWJ_es
