Today Is the day I tell my son that I’m dying from cancer. It’s reached a point where he has to hear it from me. Let all my tears flow now so that I can be brave this afternoon. Let me howl with grief now so that I can comfort him.

There's nothing random about your life & where you are right now. Every step has been carefully planned by the Lord of the Worlds. This is where you need to be. This is where He wants you to be at this stage in your journey. Learn the lessons. They’re your greatest blessings!

First time in history, I bursted to tears in front of my patient. Worse, while switching off the inotropic and oxygen support, she asked me to hold her hand until she goes because family members cannot be with her. My heart 😭😭 fck this virus.

Dad is in a hospital where porters + junior nurses are mostly Filipino & Black. When mum & I visited yesterday, we spoke in a mix of English & Punjabi. Man in next bed: “Gobbledegook!” He repeats it, louder. Me: “We’re speaking another language & we understand it fine.” 1/5

Yesterday morning, I left Kashmir with an extremely heavy heart. Here is a (very long) thread from a Kashmiri who was just inside the Valley, on curfew and what I saw going on:

Absolutely astonishing. When people tell you Gaza is like a prison it is not an exaggeration. I can’t quite find the words for this.

Shift your focus from what’s bad to what’s good; from pain to passion; from resentment & holding grudges to forgiveness, gratitude & appreciation. Stay positive & hopeful, knowing that the Almighty wants only good for us. Keep spreading goodness & it will come back to you!

Hiding pain under a smile is not easy. It can be one of the hardest things to do. You do it when you care about others more than you do for yourself. But remember, a smile can hide so much; anxiety, fear, pain, sadness, tears. But they reflect one main thing. Inner strength!

The man next to me on the tube thinks it’s acceptable to spread his legs and arms as wide as he can. I’m sure he’s reading this tweet as I’m typing it 😂🙂

Being quiet and gentle doesn’t mean you’re weak. Such people show deep, inner strength that’s under control. It’s knowing when to speak and when to listen; when to take action and when to wait. Don’t underestimate such people. They walk the earth with the greatest strength!
