DOF suppressed 7 new fires (23 acres) yesterday in Appomattox, Franklin, Henry, Grayson & Buchanan. Page & Rockingham: Excellent progress containing Rocky Branch fire & nearly completing containment on all remaining fires. Containment of all Page Co fires expected today.

The @GovernorVA let me know early this morning that 4,000 gallons of gasoline and diesel are on the way to Page County to re-supply the local fire departments. Thank you! Especially thankful too that the good Lord sent rain to the Shenandoah Valley.

There’s no better and more dedicated firefighters than in the Commonwealth. As we continue to pray for the rain in the forecast, let us also lift up the brave men and women battling these fires, and every Virginian affected in the communities they’re serving tonight.

Our hearts break for those who have been impacted by these wildfires that continue to burn across Virginia. Hundreds of firefighters and dozens of pieces of equipment from state and local agencies have been mobilized, particularly in Page County, to protect Virginians.

[1/2] The USFS Southern Area Gold Complex Incident Management Team has arrived on scene of the Luray Complex fires in Page County and will assume command w/ additional resources. Crews continue to work through challenging conditions.



Today Board Chair Keith Weakley sent a letter to @GovernorVA regarding the wildfires in Page Co. All those affected by the fires remain in our prayers and we are working diligently to provide the necessary resources. We are grateful to our brave fire fighters who are the Best

[1/2] Within the last 48 hours, firefighters have responded to more than 100 wildfires that have burned more than 7,500 acres. DOF is working with partners in Albemarle, Louisa, Page, Rockingham, Tazewell, Dickenson counties and more, to contain several large wildfires.
