Meet Marie Gentles OBE, one of our Trustees. Having worked in both primary schools & a PRU as a Headteacher, Marie has been awarded an OBE for services to education. You may recognise Marie from the BBC documentaries, Don’t Exclude Me & Helping our Teens.
Meet Tessa, one of our amazing Trustees. Tessa is an Assistant Headteacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator in a large Community school in East London. Tessa is passionate about using an inclusive, empowering approach to helping young people achieve their best😀
Introducing Michael, one of our fantastic Trustees. Michael is an established business owner, author & mentor with over 20 years’ experience who has spent 10 years volunteering in a youth offenders prison helping young people improve their life skills & forward thinking mindset.

Introducing Active Link. The same charity, with the same charitable purpose, we just have a new name. In line with our charity principles of co-creation, the name derives from a project co-created by the young people we worked with at @COBSPRU
Half term doesn’t mean our work stops, for us this is a great time to check in, not only with our young people but the families too. Our mentors have been out completing doorstop visits & providing the young people with Dream Big journals. How many stars can we help to shine⭐️
The schools maybe closed for Christmas but that doesn’t mean our work stops. Our mentors Ken & Eudina have been delivering well-being door step visits with the young people on our Active Link project providing Christmas treats 🎄

Introducing Ken who has joined us as one of our mentors. Ken has over 35 years’ experience working with young people in a variety of environments from youth offending to secure units. Ken has a Black Belt in Shotokan Karate🥋and tells us his table tennis skills are on point 🏓

We’re super excited to introduce Eudina, our new Senior Youth Engagement Officer, leading on our Active Link Up project in Birmingham. Eudina has been working to improve the lives of vulnerable young people for many years and is looking forward to continuing this work with us.
We’ve been working with the young people @COBSPRU & seen some great engagement & positive outcomes so far. Through the work of our amazing Active Link Up mentors, two young people are now participating in boxing clubs after school & another is about to embark on a bike workshop
We're thrilled to hear that #schools in #London will benefit from £1m of support to open their facilities outside school hours, to help #youngpeople be more active. @LondonSport will distribute grants to schools with high %'s of pupils on free school meals, & pupils with SEND.
We agree with @WHO that health is a right not a privilege. It’s time to build a fairer healthier world for everyone everywhere #WorldHealthDay
Lockdown's led girls to recognise the value of exercise for physical & mental health. @Womeninsport_uk revealed that 82% of girls want to put more effort into being active. However, many have lost confidence in their sporting ability & worry about being in large groups again.
