Update: the university is not giving in & still forcing students despite cases erupting in Delhi - most of the students travelling to Patiala will be travelling through New Delhi but who cares if the kids live or die 🤷‍♀️ I guess every institution in this country is a dictatorship.

So my younger brother studies in a premier private engineering institute, that is forcing final year students to return to campus and take their exams. This is how their Dean of Student Affairs talks to a concerned parent about the potential risks of almost 1000-1200 students +++

travelling from all over the country, most using public transport & risking infection - just to take exams which can be easily taken online. And the students will not even be able to sit for exams despite risking travel if they’re unfortunate enough to catch the infection.

Thapar Institute unable to take online exams, forcing its students across the country to come for exams. A tiet official recently talked so rudely to a parent. Search TIETOfficial, whole story will come to play. @CMOPb @HTPunjab @PMOIndia @ugc_india @EduMinOfIndia

Is UGC guidelines forcing colleges to reopen? Atleast an option to appear online for exams should be provided to the ones who wont be able to come to campus.

@TIETofficial 1. The college is asking us to give offline exams on campus. For this most of us would be using public transport because guess what? private transportation is expensive and not everyones parents can drop their wards. 2. We are required to undergo 14 day quarantine

Something extremely bogus is going on. Was tested for covid four times today. Two tests came back negative, two came back positive. Same machine, same test, same nurse. Rapid antigen test from BD.

@capt_amarinder Thapar University is forcefully conducting end semester exams for final year students, at an unfeasible short notice, putting the lives of the students and their families at risk in the name of otherwise fixing an "I" GRADE. Please make the exams online.

Thapar has decided to open the college on orders of Punjab Government. But it's been made compulsory to be there else we would have to reappear each paper by paying for it.The notice clearly stated that option must be given for offline or online mode @PunjabGovtIndia @MoHFW_INDIA

The fact that #thapar wants the students to travel from almost every state in India to give offline exams due to THEIR inability to take them online and that they want us to take responsibility if something happens to us shows that they don't care about us. #covidspreadsinthapar
