It'll be interesting to see whether Virgin Atlantic will move back to Gatwick. If they do, it will certainly strengthen the case for Gatwick's Northern runway. thetimes.com/business-money…

I doubt if Carlyle had any alternative options as they would have been bankrupt anyway. Sadly it wouldn't be easy to get the airport profitable.

Peter Forbes, ASA's Managing Director, was on the Expert Panel for a discussion on African aviation with the MSc Air Transport Management students at Cranfield University yesterday. An interesting exploration of the challenges for the aviation sector in this region. #aviation

The lack of CAA oversight and support for the UK's flight training schools is extremely concerning. This potentially threatens not only the flight training schools themselves but also many GA airfields where they are based. flyer.co.uk/caa-asleep-at-…

ASA is pleased to be carrying out a further aviation safeguarding assessment for airfields located near the proposed North Humber to High Marnham Overhead Power Line. The assignment is part of the consultation programme carried out by the National Grid. alanstratford.co.uk/aviation-impac…

The importance of aviation safeguarding cannot be under-estimated when determining planning consent for new high-rise developments near airports and heliports. alanstratford.co.uk/anderston-quay…

Not a good choice. There is a robust plan for developing the site as an aerospace hub, whilst maintaining its heritage and keeping it as an operational airfield. Let's hope this is just short-term.

An absolute shocker. What about the plans to at least preserve the areas of particular historic interest, such as the Dam Buster’s Heritage/Visitors Centre? Does the value of such tangible history mean nothing any more?

Surely common sense will now prevail with the latest JR for the Manston airport development? There's no prospect of the cargo hub ever being commercially viable and climate change requirements would be even more challenging for the UK aviation sector. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…

Good to see West Lindsey District Council and a private investor, Scampton Holdings, collaborating in a joint £300m regeneration and redevelopment plan to save RAF Scampton as an operational airfield. aerosociety.com/news/exclusive…

The aviation industry is pushing to have new aircraft powered by jet fuel classified as a green investment under EU rules for sustainable finance, in what climate campaigners have described as a “huge act of greenwashing”. ft.com/content/96d6d0…

Disappointing that the High Court has rejected Jenny Dawes' application for a JR for the Manston Airport DCO although further legal challenge is still feasible. The cargo hub will never be financially viable but local residents continue to be blighted. msn.com/en-gb/money/ot…

It's good news to see LHR's recovery - but it's still one of the most expensive hubs in Europe. It's time for LHR and its airlines to agree a path for future investment without excessive increases in airport charges. msn.com/en-gb/travel/n…
