After a funeral service at Holy Trinity, Col. William Light was interred in Light Square in Adelaide at noon #otd 10 Oct 1839. He was 53. His breastplate read ‘Founder of a City’. Several thousand attended. The current monument is was veiled in 1905. On #KaurnaCountry.

#OTD in 1999 the first ADF and APF personnel deployed to Timor-Leste as part of INTERFET. More than 20 nations joined in the effort to restore independence to our near neighbour. Six Australians from the ADF and AFP gave their lives in this operation. Lest We Forget.
