Also tonight, the five year old pipes up “sometimes I dream about going fishing with Jesus”. I want to have that dream!

Doing Lectio for Families this evening and the question was about ‘what one question would you ask Jesus?’ The five year old answered “can I have a snuggle?”

The beautiful BRF Centenary rose doing her thing and reminding me to pray for the wonderful team at Parenting for Faith.

5yo: Mummy, why do you look happy? Me: Because I have a funny thought in my head. 5yo: what? Me: If Daddy pushes me in my wheelchair for the parents race at Sports Day, I’ll cross the line first and beat him! 5yo: No!

I can’t quite believe that my name is in there.

We're THRILLED to announce that the 2024 Growing Faith Research Digest is out now! The amazing @emmaecoy from @CofEGuildford has done a fantastic job of summarising the findings from this year's Growing Faith research projects. Check it out here: churchofengland.org/sites/default/…

Oh, the irony that Year 6 SATs are on during Mental Health Awareness Week 🤦🏼‍♀️ Here’s a photo of a beautiful hellebore in my garden to balance the day.

The 5 year old just asked me “who was alive first, God or Jesus?” A deep question for early on a Saturday morning.

The best thing about recovering from meningitis is spending more time snuggled up on the sofa reading books to my children. Today, the last thing the five year old did before going into school was to place his story request for after school. He was so excited!

Trying very hard to concentrate for long enough to read something that’s worth the effort. This book turned up while I was in hospital. It’s such a joy to read, even if my visual tracking is poor and giving me a headache. This book is worth the effort.

After a 7 week all inclusive stay at the NHS’s finest Walton Centre, I am home and have had cuddles with all my babies. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who looked after me throughout two brain surgeries and six weeks of meningitis. Thank you.

I’m in hospital now, but before I came in I was having snuggles with our five-year-old who was telling me tearfully what he was worried about. He stopped crying and I could hear him whispering “Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.” Good choice littlest dude!

Our 13 year old is such a clergy kid! He could have asked @BishopPaulB about anything in front of an entire audience tonight. He asked about the Bishop’s chickens. Chickens! Why?!

Yesterday, in our intergenerational service, a six year old girl asked if there were any girls at the Last Supper. So today I’ve been trying to find out if women and children might have been there. I love children in the service asking questions that stop adults becoming stale.

I saw a TikTok yesterday about teaching Gen Alpha and it got me thinking about the needs of Gen Alpha in church. Autonomy seems to be central to Gen Alpha’s needs and behaviours. Are we facilitating autonomy in communal worship and discipleship?

I discovered this morning that our five year old carries a piece of paper with a Bible verse reference written on it in a ‘secret’ pocket in his coat “just in case I need to feel happy”. It was a gift from our youth group at Christmas. My heart is full!

Our five year old has been thinking about heaven. He wants to know if there is yummy food and good toys in heaven because that’s what he associates with happy times. He thinks that shops won’t charge in heaven because God wouldn’t want anyone to be poor.

Why is it that my twitter feed is full of 'it never did me any harm, so it must be fine for everyone' type posts? What happened to empathy, kindness, patience, encouragement and love of others?

It was such a joy to be in church this morning as one of our young people was baptised. And there were so many families in church (not linked to the baptism). We needed extra chairs. It gives me hope. Onwards…
