Another update to this story: Armon Nettey placed third at the state tournament in March after missing most of his senior wrestling season. He announced on Instagram today that he has committed to wrestle at Division II Alderson Broaddus University.
An update to this story: MCPS determined Thursday that Armon Nettey would be eligible to wrestle for Springbrook after reviewing change-of-residency paperwork the family provided when appealing his waiver denial.
My son Brendan and wrestler Armon Nettey’s brother, Champ, wrestled, played, and cheered together all season for a team that is made up of wrestlers whose families came here from all over the world. Seeing these guys gives me hope that our future can be brighter than our past.
