The award is hugely deserved & fitting recognition of the incredible work the volunteers have put in over the years. The museum preserves the heritage of the fire service and shares the history of firefighting in Greater Manchester is such a wonderful way 👏🚒 @Fireground999

The Board of Trustees of Fireground, Greater Manchester’s museum of firefighting based in Rochdale, is thrilled to announce that its team of volunteers is to receive the King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) #KAVS2024

This morning, our staff honoured those who served at #RemembranceSunday events across Greater Manchester and beyond. At St Peter’s Square, Chief Fire Officer Dave Russel laid a wreath and paid respects. Our stations also flew the Union Flag as part of the commemorations.

On bonfire night last year, Chris had bricks and rocks thrown at him while attending a fire Assaulting emergency service workers is #BangOutOfOrder

Sarah Nattrass Reposted

Anti-social behaviour is #BangOutOfOrder and has serious consequences. For example, if you deliberately start a fire or make a hoax call, you could receive a heavy fine or 6 months in prison.

🎆We want everyone to have a safe and happy #BonfireNight and encourage Greater Manchester residents to attend organised displays. However, if you are going to celebrate at home, please stay safe by following the Firework Code and our safety advice.

Last year, in the run up to bonfire night, Sam and other firefighters received verbal abuse while attending a bin fire in a park 🚫 Abuse towards emergency service workers will not be tolerated #BangOutOfOrder

🎃 Happy Halloween! We hope you have your pumpkins ready. To enjoy #Halloween safely, swap your candles for LED tea lights. They work just as well. 🕯 If you're still using traditional candles, do not leave them unattended and keep them away from costumes and decorations.
