As a 3rd year med student I was paired to work one-on-one with an attending for a week. She was murdered by her husband the day after my rotation ended. When I found out I asked my school what I should do & they told me the best thing was to just focus on school & working harder.

These medical students have been doing the work of MDs with decades of war operating experience. It is shameful they are likely being tortured right now when they should be praised and celebrated for stepping up, unpaid, and doing life-saving work for half a year.
