Wintry whiplash arrives Wednesday as an Arctic front brings gusty NW winds, sub-zero wind chill temperatures & scattered snow showers across the region. Blowing snow is also a concern across western Minnesota. #mnwx #wiwx
Key Messages have been initiated for the upcoming #winter storm set to impact areas from the Great Lakes to Northeast with snow squalls, strong winds, and periods of heavy lake-effect snow. Be sure to remain weather aware and check weather.gov for the latest forecast.
Cold again tonight with wind chills around 5 degrees warmer than last night around 10 below zero to 0. Western MN could see light snow showers tomorrow with minor accumulations. Warmer with another chance for light snow by midweek. #mnwx #wiwx
Snow diminishes this evening. A few isolated flurries and snow showers possible for Thanksgiving, with temps continuing to decrease through this weekend with breezy NW winds. Wind Chills will sink to double digits below zero, especially across western MN. Bundle Up! #mnwx #wiwx
We have initiated Key Messages for the impending Thanksgiving Weekend Arctic Blast that will provide bitter cold & heavy lake-effect snowfall across portions of the northern U.S.
Snowflakes continue to fly through the evening commute and will combine with the gusty winds to produce brief reductions in visibility. Strong northwesterly winds through Thursday afternoon, with gusts up to 40 mph possible. Dry, calm, and cool for the weekend! #mnwx #wiwx
Nerdy post 🤓 this system is largely driven by vorticity advection (spin of the atmosphere moving w/ the low pressure). You can see the precip (snow in blue & rain in green) following the vorticity maxes as the system moves east! This will lead to our 2nd push of snow later today
Will there be rain, ice, or snow? Find out how wintry precipitation forms! nssl.noaa.gov/education/svrw… #mnwx #wiwx
The pink area shows where continued accumulation is expected and where snowfall rates could be the heaviest through early afternoon. Areas of 2-3 inches have already been reported across south-central MN! #mnwx #wiwx
Challenging storm to forecast. It looks like only the northwestern sections of the Twin Cities will receive any appreciable snow accumulation as warm air spoils the fun everywhere else. Check it out!
Snow. Accumulation will be light on roads, but heavy snowfall rates could impact travel conditions ⚠️ More details available at weather.gov/media/mpx/DssP… ! #mnwx #wiwx
