I’m trying to understand HK protestors’ violence, some arguments I can come up with: 1. will condemning violence help de-escalate situation? HK police probably will still attack protestors indiscriminately. The only thing helps is HK gov’s serious response to appeals

The title of President implies democratic legitimacy. Xi Jinping has none. Labels matter, and we should always emphasize that Xi Jinping's power derives from his role as General Secretary of the CCP, not from the consent of the Chinese people. wsj.com/articles/stop-…

This video shows hundreds of #Uyghurs lined up in a hospital apparently waiting to have their biometrics (#DNA, voiceprints, & retina scans) collected by the Chinese authorities. #China has implemented mandatory biometric collections for “security purposes.”

Singapore’s Prime Minister is so concerned with his deals with Communist China that he is shaming the brave people of #HongKong for fighting for their human rights. This is shameful! The global community should stand together against human rights violator President Xi.

Absolutely disrespectful. That's not just the issue of #HongKong, but the universal values we all cherish. #China is exporting its political censorship and posing treats to all freedom lovers worldwide. Such intimidation must be condemned and sanctioned. Act before it's too late

As Korea University students put up posters supporting Hong Kong protesters, Chinese students vandalized the posters. One of the phrases says, "The mother of the person who supports the protesters is a comfort woman." Imagine being Chinese and making a comfort woman joke.

Xi Jinping says #HongKongProtests “amount to a blatant challenge to the bottom line of ‘one country, two systems’.” This warning suggests Beijing is preparing to step in forcefully. Consequences for such escalation must be clearly & credibly communicated to Xi & Chinese gov't
