Anybody else noticed how the price of Belgravia gin has shot up? Had a look at the data from @trundler, which shows I'm not imagining things. Around the beginning of last year it was R 115 for a 750 ml bottle and now it's R 145. That's a 26% increase in just over a year.

The price of instant coffee has been steadily climbing. Year-on-year, it's up by about 5.9%. Instant coffee has become relatively more expensive than coffee beans (5.4%) and ground coffee (3.9%) over the last year. Time for an upgrade?

Were Easter eggs more expensive this year? Did you just imagine it? Nope. You probably paid about 30% more than you did in 2020. Quick analysis using @trundler data. datawookie.dev/blog/2021/04/t…

There's a shortage of fresh tomatoes in South Africa at the moment. Tomato prices have suddenly increased. The price of a bag of "English" tomatoes at a popular SA retailer increased by 30% over the last month. More on this soon!

Pine nuts tend to be rather pricey. Over the last year though, they have become a lot more expensive. At one major SA retailer, the price of 100g of pine nuts rose by R25 (about 18%) over the past year!

Have you ever wondered how the cost of a basket of fruit and veg differs between Woolworths and Pick 'n Pay? If the answer to that question is 'yes', then you should check out this blog post. Give us a shout if you think we should add any other products. trundler.dev/blog/2021/01/f…

The price of fresh ginger has shot up recently. We've heard that at some retailers, the price of fresh ginger is more than R400/kg (it's usually around R100/kg)! We took a look at ginger prices at two of SA's major food retailers in our latest blog. trundler.dev/blog/2021/01/g…

Here’s the most dramatic example of a price increase for ginger that we’ve found so far. Since late November, the price of loose ginger per kg at one Checkers store in Gauteng has doubled! @lukevenediger

@rainSouthAfrica here's the updated table for your morning meeting. Really hope that this helps to inform your #fixit strategy for today. Also, isn't this kind of embarrassing?

@rainSouthAfrica here's the complete set of spot measurements up to this point. It amazes me that you can get up to 26 Mbps when there's no load, but when there's any load at all that drops down to less than 1 Mbps. Stop making excuses and #fixit.

@rainSouthAfrica here's a useful little table of download statistics. You might want to use this at your next board meeting? Presuming that you're still in business long enough to have another board meeting.

@rainSouthAfrica here's something you might find interesting. Your latency is actually fairly decent. Average ping time of 46.7 ms, with median of 37 ms and 95% percentile of 67. Smallest ping time was 29 ms, while largest was 557 ms. But why is your bandwidth still so shit?

@rainSouthAfrica since you're enjoying my analysis (and I've got to assume that you are, since otherwise you'd #fixit and I'd go away...), I've added the upload speed onto the same plot. As noted before, your upload is pretty decent. But the download is deplorable.

@rainSouthAfrica here's the distribution of your download speeds broken down by time of day. The rate is pretty good until 08:00 then it's consistently poor until 18:00. This is not my hardware. This is your infrastructure. #fixit
