This is one reason why a company writes almost $800 million checks--so they don't have to confess, and they still get up in right-wing galas and pretend to be truthful.

This is so well written and all true. Take a minute to read this and open your heart and mind to what is being said here. Thank you @AmandaHeldOpelt

I’d like to speak to Evangelicals. If you are like me, you’ve spent most of your life being told that you have to vote Republican to be a good Christian. I understand if your convictions prevent you from voting for a Democrat. But let me suggest something: 1/10

The Christian view of sexuality is not simply a set of rules. It is a unique understanding of what the human body is and what it is for.

One reason why I’m becoming more libertarian: in reflecting on my life, I realize there were things I was once adamant about, yet I was ultimately wrong. Given our fallibility, the law (the ultimate expression of our adamance) should tread as lightly as possible in our lives.

The “you’re enough” “believe in yourself” type of sermons don’t largely connect w/ the next generation, because they hear those messages every day at school, in culture, on social, etc. What’s a message they RARELY hear? You’re not enough. You can’t save yourself, but Jesus can.

Let me tell y'all why I'm so passionate about kids in church: making churches safe and loving communities for messy, loud, wiggly children is a direct confrontation to our obsession with power, status, productivity, efficiency, and control.

Preaching sure isn't fun anymore. Every word of every lesson is scrutinized under a political microscope. So, if you know a preacher, give some grace and some encouragement. If you are a preacher, keep preaching Christ and him crucified. It's not always fun, but it is worth it!

It’s surprising that people object to calling David’s sin with Bathsheba, “rape.” The parable with which Nathan rebuked David makes Bathsheba a lamb, *stolen* by a thief and eaten (2 Sam. 12). The lamb didn’t *choose* this fate. Assigning blame to Bathsheba adds to the text.

You politics should not determine what you accept as truth. The Truth ought to determine what you accept as your politics.

Agree with this 100%. Take a minute and read @drtonyevans statement.

Our work now is just starting: we must help and support moms, dads, and babies. Love them all—and in so doing making abortion unimaginable. #RoeVsWade

This is the most detailed MRI scan of an unborn baby. At just 20 weeks, she’s moving, turning her head, and kicking. Her beating heart is also visible. Human life is a miracle.

One lesson that we Christians have not learned in the last 2,000+ years is that Jesus had no political control over the Roman Empire and he still changed the entire world. We keep trying to change the world the way the Roman Empire did, instead of the way Jesus did.

When speaking about lust, Jesus said, “If *your* right eye causes you to sin…” Notice, he didn’t shift the blame to the person being lusted after. The cause of temptation is in us, not them. We must take responsibility for our eyes, rather than blame the one being objectified.

Both history and Christian theology teach us that people are incapable of governing their own speech and behavior. We must have a higher power to restrain our evil and compel our good. Consequently, if we refuse to be governed by Christ, worldly rulers will rise up to govern us.

Loving our enemies and doing good to those who hate us is a spiritual discipline. It’s something we must do, even when we don’t feel like it, so that the character of Jesus is formed in us.
