1. Am I the only person who feels like climate and energy politics has been fully conquered by idiocracy? Half my twitter feed is taken up by people arguing about whether we should go 100% RE or ditch it and go all nuclear, as if either were remotely plausible.

It's important not to overlook the ways in which the world is getting better. Let's learn the lessons and apply them to other areas. Bravo to @nickkristof for this important perspective and for highlighting the great work by @ourworldindata and @gapminder nyti.ms/2RwJ5YB

Watch the nuclear4climate team at the #climatemarch last week end in Katowice part 2. ⁦@EricGMeyer⁩ great singing and polar bears dancing. And why some people in the march believe « it is not cool » to exclude a key low carbon solution from the climate conversation #COP24

In short, Germany is a renewable energy leader. It is NOT a climate leader. It could have been, but successive government's deliberately chose otherwise. If you think nuclear phaseout rates above the climate crisis, you can applaud that. If not, critique is warranted IMO. /End.

Sadly pronuclear activists have been kicked out from the climate march at #COP24 in Katowice. Organizers asked the police to remove us from the premise, thus excluding our voice. We want to recognize nuclear power as clean energy, following IPCC. #fota4climate #saveIsar2

This is HUGE - after decades of implacable opposition to nuclear power, the Union of Concerned Scientists has reversed its position and now seeks to keep nuclear plants in the US open. Why? Because nukes closed early will be replaced by fossil fuels: axios.com/environmental-…

The rare earths required to produce solar panels create about as much radioactive waste as uranium mining..the difference is nuclear waste is 100% contained and regulated, and uranium mines themselves practically non-radioactive because of heavy monitoring and leak-proof systems
