Where might climatic suitability for malaria transmission change in future? In our paper published today in Science, we use hydrological models from @ISIMIPImpacts to examine the effect of hydrology on malaria suitability changes in Africa.
Our paper was published on the FOREWARNS surface water flood forecasting tool. Should be run operationally by UK Flood Forecasting Centre from this year. We're also trialling a Nowcasting configuration over the summer. nhess.copernicus.org/articles/24/14… @YorkshireiCASP @Linda_sp8 @triggmat
Really excited to be in Nepal with the @SajagNepal team. It's been an important reminder to visit the places that you intend to model and not to assume you can do it all from a desktop...
Sad to be leaving @SoGLeeds, but really excited to be working on multi hazard risk modelling as part of the @SajagNepal project @oxfordgeography
Beyond pleased to share that our paper on how seasonal floods affect maternal health access on the Barotse Floodplain has now been published and is completely open access! This work was completed for my masters, and is my first first-author paper! ij-healthgeographics.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…
Is it the last supper? Nay! It’s the @CASTOResearch team evangelising the benefits of interdisciplinary working with help from @MEMBRA_Trees & @CYPTreescapes at the #FutureTreescapes23 @UK_Treescapes
Calling all research staff! Join our networking event at Nexus on 7 June for a chance to meet other researchers. You can find out about shared research interests and experiences through ice-breaking activities and academic speed dating. Book your place: bit.ly/3BQh5F3
Some highlights from our @CASTOResearch trip to Cornwall to see riparian woodland restoration in action. Beaver wetlands, wood pasture and Atlantic rainforest among many other great finds this week. @UK_Treescapes @heritagemcr @jonnyhuck @kernowbeaver
Enjoying some beaver spotting in beautiful Cornwall. Amazing creatures and impressive engineers.
We had a fantastic response to our workshop looking at new forecasting tools to deal with the challenge of surface water #flooding. Participants valued our tool & we are using their feedback. We have a new summary report about the workshop & project. bit.ly/3VGNRke
Thanks to everyone who donated to me and Lizzy and for the great 80s themed MoonlightWalk from the wonderful @khhosp
I'm fundraising for Katharine House Hospice - Banbury. Check out my @JustGiving page and please donate if you can. Thank you! #JustGiving justgiving.com/fundraising/to…
This disease kills 400,000 people a year. A new map shows where climate change will make it worse bit.ly/3lQaVvh #malaria #ClimateChange
📢📢Our @NatureComms article out today uses Lisflood to improve hydrological process representation in models of #malaria suitability. We see different patterns across Africa and new changes in suitability in the future. That only took us nine years! 😬 @SoGLeeds @unilincoln 🎉🎉
