Have a feeling Southgate may well step down but I really hope he doesn’t. The club like mentality he’s built in that squad is incredible and it’s incredibly unlikely a successor keeps that going. I’m gutted. Absolutely gutted.

Couldn't disagree more. Everyone was absolutely buzzing when Stones & Maguire did this vs. Colombia. Both sets of players were at each others throats all game including plenty of 'gamesmanship' during the penalties. We need more of this in the game.
The 32-team tournament, 4-team groups provided the perfect balance for unbeatable sporting drama that have played out over the past few days. It is inconceivable that FIFA decided their priority was to rip that up.
