As a youth sports coach my #1 priority is making amazing humans who will strive to live a bountiful and beautiful life. How good of a soccer player they are is simply icing on top. These are my priorities..if you’re a youth coach are they yours???

Professionalization and monetization of our children. This is all so horrific top to bottom.

“You have to speak out … you have to take that risk, because it’s about your child’s life, not about the fact they get the chance to play a few more extra minutes in a soccer game.” — @cbrennansports on how parents can protect young kids in youth sports. gma.abc/3rvPpQK

These 2 answers from Chris Holtmann and Ryan Day in back-to-back days stood out to me on the type of coaches Ohio State has in football and basketball. Coaching is "teaching and counseling" and "normalizing struggle." That's the type of person you want leading young men. @OSU_AD

I haven’t retired though 💖 just working on my mental health.

My daughter learned that @Simone_Biles retired today and she has cried literally for the last hour.

Want to build your confidence? Start by: • Reflecting on your past successes • Focusing on leveraging your strengths rather than mitigating your weaknesses • Talk to yourself like a helpful coach • Write down what works for you every day

Must read for all parents with youth in sports. Stats and facts that paint a clear picture of the current state of youth sports. Not totally reformable but no doubt that support and help can be provided to parents, coaches and most importantly players. Let’s make a difference!!!

I'm very compelled by @LindaFlanagan2's argument about the value of kids' sports & organized movement — but I have to admit that I'm unconvinced that they're reformable, at least here in the U.S.: annehelen.substack.com/p/are-kids-spo…

Thanks, Matt Villano, for the interview! And to clarify, it was @JenSeniorNY who observed that children have moved "from our employees to our bosses"--a reality that partly explains why we obsess over kids' sports. cnn.com/2022/09/06/hea…

Everybody struggles. Every team has an off day. Everyone falls down. It’s part of the path. It’s what you do next that matters. If you believe, you get up and keep going. If you doubt, you bail. Belief ➡️ Behavior
