Are the inflated claims for the PA role finally coming to light ? UK Government @wesstreeting makes damning admission on @BBCBreakfast of: “Legitimate concerns about the extent of doctor substitution and replacing doctors with PAs” 2 years of “PA studies” is not safe.

'I think there are legitimate concerns about the extent of doctor substitution' Health Secretary Wes Streeting told #BBCBreakfast he'll 'take stock' before allowing more physician associates to be employed in the NHS in England bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

We're asking @wesstreeting for a commitment to protect GP practices from the unfair and potentially devastating financial burden of increased employer NI Contributions. Read the full letter here 👇

I’m training to become a GP to see patients We work in collaboration as a team. There’s just nothing I see that PAs are needed for in that team. We already have amazing practice nurses, HCAs, pharmacists, admin staff and secretaries, prescription clerks PAs add nothing.

General practitioners are the modern day primary care consultants. The days of sitting in an office and working in isolation are going the way of the dinosaur. Primary care consultant is much more appropriate as they're leading large MDTs. Your superiority complex and anonymous…

Not good enough @RCPhysicians & @Mumtaz_Patel_1 ! You must push for the full implementation of your EGM motions including a total pause on the PA Project. December’s roll-out cannot go ahead. Will you also please call for the immediate release of May’s @gmcuk safety survey?

Responding to the news that @wesstreeting has announced he will be saying more about physician associate roles “in the coming weeks”, Dr @Mumtaz_Patel_1 who is acting as RCP president said: ‘We’re calling for an independent national review of the role of PAs that reviews the…

This whole PA thing is completely topsy turvy. You can’t keep insisting “PAs have a crucial role to play” but have no idea what that role actually is. Roles are developed based on NEED. A gap in services, a new skill set… Not the other way around!

Jeez! When will someone actually be held accountable for this? PPE valued at £8 billion+ literally up in smoke! 🔥 Is it any wonder the last government left us with a £22 billion black hole

🚨The PPE Scandal continues 👇 Health ministers just confirmed that over 1 million pallets of useless PPE procured during the pandemic have now been destroyed up to Sept 2024 *1,049,700 pallets* PPE valued at £8 billion+ literally up in smoke 🔥 theyworkforyou.com/wrans/?id=2024…

Disgusting. Are you one of Thames Water's 16 million so-called 'customers'? Then YOU are paying for this very expensive emergency loan Where is the government? They should say NO to increasing your bills by a penny let alone *53%* PUBLIC OWNERSHIP NOW ft.com/content/b3f009…

It is absolutely amazing to me that the purpose of PAs was to boost productivity in the NHS of the clinical team. More computers, working printers, separate doctors offices would have been much cheaper folks. You could even have got more phlebotomists in too.

Not one single mainstream news outlet has reported on this horrific and traumatising testimony from a UK Surgeon's experiences of working in Gaza.

"I did amputations on people who just had to take paracetamol after the operation as pain relief.. one of my colleagues took maggots out of a childs throat in intensive care" Yesterday Professor Mamode explained to MPs how Israel blocks medical aid from entering Gaza

***BREAKING NEWS*** Today at UK @TheBMA Council this statement of total support for GPs from the whole profession was made about the existential crisis facing us. We cannot increase costs to cover this hammer blow. @wesstreeting needs to announce right now they will cover this

Almost 100 trusts have their hands tied behind their backs by PFI deals from the early 2000s. They are still paying out tens of millions in PFI profits. If you want to hold them accountable, free them from PFI, and don’t saddle them with more private finance deals.

Failing hospitals will be named and shamed in league tables and NHS  managers sacked if they cannot improve patient care and take control of finances, the Health Secretary will say ✍️: @JanekirbyPA independent.co.uk/news/uk/wes-st…

GP concerns about national insurance hikes were raised at PMQs. In response to @cajardineMP and @EdwardJDavey, the PM avoided committing to cover costs, saying only that practices will have the “resources they need.”

Absolutely horrifying. The Physician Associate at @NCAlliance_NHS was “signed off” to insert ascitic drains by a specialist nurse, who thought the PA was a doctor. There must be a pause of physician associate expansion. This isn’t safe.

The Physician Associate debacle is a major healthcare scandal of our time. @RCPhysicians shouldn’t be calling for a ‘review’ they should be calling for an independent judge led enquiry. And if their fingerprints weren’t all over it they certainly would be.
