🧵 I would add that in addition to questionable (IMHO little to no) benefit the costs of MOC end up in the health care system. That money comes from somewhere, whether it is the pockets of physicians, patients or both. #EndMOC

US physicians almost unanimously oppose ABIM MOC. #MedTwitter We have raised our voice in despair. What can we do to make change happen? 1) Urge our professional organizations to support us. More than words, we would like action.

The most important trial at #ASH22: NEUTRODIET, a randomized multicenter trial of 'neutropenic diet' vs normal diet after auto/alloSCT. No differences in infections, aGHVD or hospital days between arms. Less weight loss & better patient satisfaction in normal diet arm! #tcellrx

This is disappointing. The NEJM 2022;387:468-470 article showed that of the FDA approved drugs, only bebtelovimab effectively neutralized the recent COVID strains. Now what? We need to return to the basics. Masking, hand washing, protecting our vulnerable. #CovidIsntOver

Today, FDA is announcing that bebtelovimab is not currently authorized for emergency use in any U.S. region because it is not expected to neutralize Omicron subvariants BQ.1 and BQ.1.1: fda.gov/drugs/drug-saf…

A student interested in #oncology asked me: How to balance the excitement over oncologic diagnosis and treatment with the fact that cancer is devastating for people? A key question. Totally ok to nerd out (I do a lot), but don’t let intellectual enthusiasm overshadow compassion.

Great @UCSF Medicine Grand Rounds on #LongCovid, w/ @LekshmiMD, @MichaelPelusoMD, @zalali I think folks are now recognizing risk of prolonged sxs, but haven't wrapped their heads around long-term risk of non-communicable diseases. It's real, & concerning. youtube.com/watch?v=YGAfCW…

They finished 4-years of undergrad, 4-years of medical school, endured 3-7 years of residency (some going on to get other degrees!), work 50-90 hrs a week... and you still can't call female physicians "Doctor" when you email or send them a message? jamanetwork.com/journals/jaman…

Finished an advance copy of ⁦@DrSidMukherjee⁩ new book “The Song of the Cell” out 10/25. It’s another masterful work by this author; a sweeping treatise on the discovery of cell functions, how they sometimes go awry in disease, and can be manipulated to create new therapies
