we literally have the best actor ever portraying aemond

one of ewan mitchell’s inspirations for the aemond at the brothel scenes was “the fallen angel” (oil on canvas, 1847) by alexandre cabanel

it’s why they go so hard for rhaenyra and try to bring down anyone who critiques her character in any way, they see it as a personal attack on the woman they are trying to be and embody. targ women, with their beauty and magical powers, become their psychological projection

Jihad Aemond Reposted

there’s a lot of psychological undercurrents to how the female audience perceives alicent, she’s like an uncomfortable reminder of their shadow - a girl who has been ignored, used and stripped of agency. through identifying with targ women, they feel powerful and important

to me women in general react badly to alicent cause they don't like to acknowledge women in positions where they don't really have a choice or agency, they think "if it was me i'd do this and that and wouldn't be bound" she's an uncomfortable reminder of women's subjugation

Jihad Aemond Reposted

the hotd showrunners beat the themes over the audiences heads in a way that GoT never even bothered to, and the fans are still in the trenches with understanding the simplest stuff 😭

Jihad Aemond Reposted

it’s actually very funny to watch an entire episode of hotd based around how cyclical violence begets violence & perception of blame can be manipulated, then come on here & see the fans doing Westerosi Peasant Roleplay 101 in all seriousness

Jihad Aemond Reposted

Y'all really saw that opening scene with the battle of the Blackwoods and Brackens taking everybody's lives and leaving no winners and you were like "..........anyway! When are the main characters gonna start killing each other??"

Jihad Aemond Reposted

like of course none of it makes sense to you because you're so adamant in not understanding the very basic point of this adaptation. it's about two girls. the rest of the story is an expansion of THEIR story.

Jihad Aemond Reposted

it's genuinely so funny to me that people keep denying rhaenicent is a thing and also keep getting mad about the story like yeah.... it's because rhaenicent is a thing
