I think the reason that founder mode appeals (and works) is that singular vision and execution generates opinionated and effective outcomes. Unfortunately, even brilliant individuals have rate limits - productive time - cognitive load - specialist skills & experience So we hire…

First of all, what is inversion thinking? It’s a problem-solving technique where you tackle problems backward. Instead of focusing on success, you identify what leads to failure and avoid those actions. This leads to a faster & easier decision-making process.

GetAllConsumerData.json 😆

at one point the uber app used a single endpoint that returned all the data the user could ever see once fetched all UI screens loaded instantly so many “modern” apps with fancy optimized tooling still end up feeling worse than this

How to understand Github code repos with LLMs in 2 mins. Even after 10yrs of engineering, dissecting a large codebase is daunting. 1 Dump the code into one big file 2 Feed it to Gemini-1.5Pro (2M context) 3 Ask it anything. Here's, I dissect DeepFaceLab, a deepfake repo: 1/11

The point @lethain made in his original blog post was that "migrations are the only scalable solution to technical debt." I would expand on that slightly and point out that our systems exist in a state of entropy. Everything is constantly getting a little bit worse, every day.

One reason AI works for code is that most people are just writing the same programs over and over. The elegant solutions to this problem are more abstract languages and more powerful libraries. But maybe AI will be the worse-is-better solution that wins.

Great thread by @mipsytipsy on power symmetry in organizations. I could get “never confuse lack of clarity with empowerment” tattooed on my forehead. One of the most impt jobs of managers and leaders is to internalize purpose & communicate it clearly. Direction ≠…

Ah, what a great question. I actually don't think they are incompatible at all, in fact I think there is a lovely symmetry. "We look up for purpose and down for function" refers to spheres of ownership. The CEO/VP we were just discussing are illustrative...

If a project has no clear path to generate revenue (and, eventually, profits): it's considered a cost center. When a company wants to improve its profitability, reducing investment in cost centers is easiest. The question is: does Flutter have a viable path to generate revenue?

Is @Google backing away from #Flutter? I'm worried. The framework feels like it's stagnating pretty hard and a lot of big and small problems are being completely ignored. Also the built in widgets offering is getting messy and no one is cleaning it up. Examples in replies

Observability 2.0, otoh...is what underpins the entire software development lifecycle. It's about how swiftly you can ship, find problems, and ship again. It's about developer productivity and code quality. It's about understanding your users and building the right product.

A pair of healthy questions to ask yourself occasionally. "What is my top priority? The one thing I'd really like to make progress on?" "Did I make progress on that today?" We usually have that *one* thing. The thing bothering us when we continue to not make progress. 🧵
