I was wrong on a bunch of levels, but the voters should always be respected. Huge congrats to all the candidates and campaigns on both sides for being in the arena - and caring deeply about our country.

Bad blood in the House GOP over Matt Gaetz. “I’m looking at him as a member of Congress and the job that he has done here, and it has been abhorrent,” said GOP Rep. Max Miller, who has feuded with Gaetz over the years. “I'm not the only one who thinks this way. I just say the…

This is very important. Hopefully they can do this with Congress also to pushing sensible laws that will make it more lasting and effective.

Not sure what you mean, @WholeMarsBlog Going from 100% (Biden tariff on vehicles made in China) to anything more than that won’t do anything. There are near-zero vehicles sold today in the US that were made in China, and there will be zero regardless of how high the tariff…

Interesting. This would greatly improve Tesla's competitive position and pricing power in the U.S. if it came to pass. And the President can do it unilaterally. $TSLA

Hard agree with this distillation of the challenges advocates have faced, the permitting reform fight being a prime example. Among the policies enacted in spite of this dynamic, NEVI is another good example of how overvaluing “consensus” can result in an unworkable program.

Good @ezraklein attempt to explain the kinda mysterious dominance of "The Groups" over Dem policymaking in recent years.

Publicly demanding a cover up of a Republican-led ethics investigation into the Attorney General nominee doesn’t suggest much confidence that it will exonerate Gaetz

NEW : Mike Johnson urges Ethics panel to not release report on Matt Gaetz, an unprecedented move since investigation is supposed to be separate from speaker’s office “I’m going to strongly request that the Ethics Committee not issue the report" Johnson tells @alisonkmain

Can Tesla handle the EV credit going away better than other EV automakers? Yes. EVs are a blip today for the other big automakers, so it’s not nearly as consequential for most of them. For Rivian and Lucid- they don’t care at all, as the credit doesn’t help them much today…

Obviously, if the EV tax credit exists you need to qualify for it and promote it to be competitive. The need to qualify was strangling the industry. This legislation was written deliberately by someone who hates EVs to harm the industry. Everyone involved should be ashamed

Tragically, with no leadership on this issue expected from U.S. Government in the foreseeable future, I fear this situation will accelerate: and not only measles. Also Hib meningitis, pertussis, even polio is possible. Were not standing up sufficiently to antivaccine activism

#Measles cases are on the rise globally. ↗️ More than 10 million people globally were infected with measles in 2023, a 20% increase from the previous year. Low vaccination rates are driving the surge in cases. bit.ly/48SAtkf

100% of these POS credits went to North American manufactured electric vehicles, the vast majority were made in America (mostly by Tesla). This was intended to be an industrial and manufacturing policy.

579,687 electric vehicles were registered in the United States in the first half of this year 125,000 point of sale credits were claimed in that period, for EVs and hybrids combined.

Appointing your personal criminal attorney as Deputy Attorney General presents an insane conflict of interest. Just straight up corruption.

Trump makes it official, confirming our reporting that he will name Todd Blanche as the deputy attorney general. He adds that his other attorney, Emil Bove, will be principal deputy AG. (Pending Senate confirmation.)

Good thread. Allowing ballots to be counted that are received up to 7 days after the election seems dumb and causes many to question the efficiency and effectiveness of California governments.

1/ why is SF so slow at ballot counting!? on election night ~54.9% of votes were counted. 9 days later there are still 15.8K ballots (~3.8%) left to count. today my team went to @SFElections and discovered 9 bottlenecks. thread 🧵 1/17

Tesla made a huge effort to utilize the $7500 credit through emails, signage, prominence on the website and configurator, used it in social media ads/videos. Riddle me this - think Tesla’s sales and finance teams are dumb? Obviously not - they’re crazy talented. The $7500…

Tesla no longer has to worry about where they source battery materials from. They no longer have to worry about price caps. They no longer have to worry about income caps. Leasing loopholes. Stricter standards every year. Compliance EVs flooding the market. No more…

Sounds reasonable to me. Might need to raise the age to 25, though. Auto Insurance rates drop for 25 year-olds indicating less risk. Could be similar for automatic weapon ownership.
