Today I came across what I believe to be a human jawbone #mudlarking on the river #thames. I’ve emailed the FLO & alerted the police. They’re sending a unit round. I hope we might be able to find out some information about this lost soul… [A valid permit is required to #mudlark]

Vaults of ambition: shock find under London Museum enchants its builders - an exciting development for ⁦@LDN_Museum⁩ - will be great to explore once they re-open! theguardian.com/uk-news/articl…

Just 2 weeks to go until… Southwark Cathedral presents Mudlarking and Heritage Crafts Festival 2024 Friday 30 August 12 noon - 7pm Saturday 31 August 9am - 5pm Tickets available on Eventbrite or by clicking the link below! I’m excited to be exhibiting! eventbrite.co.uk/e/southwark-ca…

Could this be a 3rd/4th Century barbarous radiate?  They were copper and the size is about right (just over 1 cm diameter)… 🤔 Possible ID suggested by the knowledgable David Powell thanks to @LondonMadlark 🙏 Found #mudlarking along the Thames #roman #mudlark

A few weeks ago I found this bottle #mudlarking on the Thames foreshore. Laying flat & almost completely submerged, unfortunately someone had trodden on it and it was already in pieces when I found it. Still I decided to take it home and had a go at repairing it! #mudlark #bottle

Fresh from the Thames Foreshore this morning is this interesting piece of wood! After a quick rinse at home it’s revealed some details and is that a date I see?! 1669? I’ll be contacting the FLO tomorrow! #mudlark #Archaeology

First time back to the Thames foreshore in a while & I found my nicest chunk of Roman box flue tile. These tiles were used in the ‘hypocaust’ heating system which allowed the circulation of hot air in what was essentially the first central heating system! #mudlarking #Archaeology

And here is my #BestOf2023 My first full year of #mudlarking and a look back at what I consider my #topnine finds of the year! They range in date from #Paleolithic #Roman #medieval and #Tudor to the 17th & 18th Centuries! #mudlark #Archaeology #NYE2023

My best ever pipe! Found #mudlarking this morning on the #riverthames at what turned out to be a super low tide! #mudlark

Well this was another happy find for me this weekend, which I found #mudlarking, my first bottle! A lovely stamped ‘Bourne & Son’ stoneware #bottle probably for ginger beer! “Warranted not to absorb”

Fresh up from the #thames #foreshore this morning is this #Roman maker’s mark! Thanks to fellow #mudlark Peter, who’s helping me understand more about this, I believe it’s a stamp from an official tile maker… #Archaeology #mudlarking #archeology

It was a freezing cold foreshore this time last week on the #Thames but lucky for me I was rewarded with these lovelies! A large #Jetton & a cut-quartered hammered #coin found #mudlarking …they need a clean & investigation for more information, but I’m chuffed to bits! #mudlark

Fresh up from the #thamesforeshore this morning is this Nuremberg Jetton. Only my second Jetton and the first that hasn’t completely fallen apart! It’s a little battered but legible! More research needed but a welcome gift from the #Thames! #mudlarking #mudlark #coin

Happened to be at the right time in the right place for this #mudlarking find! I’m not sure on the age of it but it’s made from bone and I’m super happy as I’d reset my alarm this morning even after the clocks had gone back! Any earlier I would’ve missed it! #mudlark #bonecomb

Happy with this stamped clay pipe fresh up from the #foreshore yesterday! After a quick search I believe RK is Robert Knight from Southwark 1710-49 (Wife Elizabeth) plus a nice ‘chunk’ of porcelain with a hand painted koi carp - possibly a saucer or tea bowl, found #mudlarking
