UPDATE: we've raised over $190,000 in less than 5 days! This is ~$1,000/family and ~$30,000 for each mutual aid org! BUT winter is coming, and prices are sky-high: 1 bag of flour costs $1,000(!) in north Gaza. Let's keep going! venmo.com/u/elizabethxut… paypal.com/paypalme/eliza…

As I watch the resilience of those who haven’t been killed try to survive Israel’s brutal decimation of Gaza, it’s a reminder that we need to work even harder to tell their stories – and the world needs to listen.  My column for the @freep freep.com/story/opinion/…

We were disheartened to see the MI Office of the Attorney General @MIAttyGen bring charges against a number of university protesters. We are especially concerned that the highest law enforcement office in the state brought misdemeanor trespassing charges against two individuals.

@ACLUofMichigan⁩: UM’s proposed disruptive activity policy “fails to make important distinctions that would prevent predictable first amendment violations” and could lead to “discriminatory enforcement and uneven self-censorship”. theguardian.com/us-news/2024/a…

Today, we sent a letter to the University of Michigan expressing concern over its proposed ‘Disruptive Activity Policy,’ urging the University to either abandon the proposed policy or substantially re-write it. aclumich.org/en/press-relea…

We are concerned that the University of Michigan’s proposed ‘Disruptive Activity Policy’ is unnecessary, vague, and over-broad. We will be providing our input to the University by April 3, which we will also make public.

Malcolm X’s Detroit life is largely unacknowledged in the city’s built environment. Most people drive right by Temple No 1. and miss the tiny historic marker. We don’t have an official street named after him (Linwood would make sense)
