Can't not comment. The statement of "desynchronization" is correct. The implication that this causes the sense of self is a conjecture not supported by data. The return to baseline is correct. A reset of circuits critical to the sense of self is just conjecture.
After a high dose of psilocybin, the brain desynchronizes at a massive scale, causing loss of our sense of self, time, and space. This may drive the burst of plasticity caused by psychedelics. The next day, brain activity has largely returned to normal, but an echo remains – a…

I’m ecstatic that our paper is finally seeing the light of day! This project endured a pandemic and switching labs, but the results were so exciting that it was worth all the hurdles to cross the finish. Gratitude to all who helped me along the way! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Now recruiting! Phase-3, multicenter, randomized, controlled, double-blind study (with COMPASS) to investigate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of psilocybin in patients with treatment-resistant depression... the second psilocybin trial launched at U-M in the past 3 months!

Great week for the Michigan Psychedelic Center! Teaching psychedelics in a pharmacology class, public event at the U-M Museum of Art, and- most importantly- the FIRST participant at U-M (likely ever) in a clinical trial receiving psilocybin. We are all feeling the momentum!
Peer-reviewed and published today in @NatMentHealth Thank you co-authors, and particularly @SNACCNeuro for seed funding. nature.com/articles/s4422…

Exciting finding from the Michigan Psychedelic Center (M-PsyC)! Single IV bolus of psilocybin durably reduces signs of chronic pain in rats. This study complements the upcoming trial with chronic pain patients conducted by the UM Chronic Pain & Fatigue Research Center and M-PsyC.
