The Doobie Brothers released “Minute by Minute” on this day in 1978. The album was #1 for five weeks, went triple-platinum, won four Grammys, and includes the ultimate yacht rock song - “What a Fool Believes”.

Enjoy the soul chart from 20 to 1 on the last day of November exactly 50 years ago, according to one of the leading American music magazines at the time, Record World! mixcloud.com/Professor_Eddy…

Steely Dan released “Gaucho” on this day in 1980. The album took two years to record and incorporated over forty different musicians including Becker and Fagen. The band didn’t release another studio album for twenty years, 2000’s “Two Against Nature”.

Enjoy this soundtrack to late evening pleasure: listening to music on a comfortable sofa with a cocktail in hand, after a long day of seaside fun. To quote Gny: “Just take it easy and smile” 😊 mixcloud.com/Professor_Eddy…

One word: wow! Music Box: Yacht Rock: A Dockumentary | Official Trailer | HBO youtu.be/a55pyQsI3GQ?si…

My next cloudcast contains Dutch yacht rock only! Although Erik Tagg is an American singer-songwriter, his song Mutual Feeling from his 1977 album Rendez Vous, was recorded in the Netherlands with Dutch musicians and artists, like singer Anita Meyer and producer Hans Vermeulen.

Enjoy this new part of Sunshine Radio! 😊 The idea behind this cloudcast was to make an eighties radio mix with authentic air checks and jingles that really sound like that particular decade. mixcloud.com/Professor_Eddy…

Quincy Jones' work always balanced musical complexity and mass appeal, and he had a special gift for recording great singers, including several of the best in history. A look back on his life, from A — Z: rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-m…

“He’s So Shy” by the Pointer Sisters peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 on this day in 1980. Like several other yacht rock songs, it was heavily influenced by “What a Fool Believes”. Personnel includes Michael Boddicker and Paulinho da Costa.
