I've discovered some interesting teachers and schools, and not least, inspectors. But it's been quite a lonely journey and I'd really appreciate knowing about others exploring this area, either informally or even professionally, #Twitterstorians [2/2]

I'm told #Twitterstorians are the nicest and most helpful people on earth. So can I have some advice please? I've spent a dozen years studying logbooks, HMI practice, etc regarding elementary schools in the period 1837 to about 1910. [1/2]

How do you get a priority Xmas booking from #Waitrose? Do you have illness/cancer, blue badge/mobility problems, age 80+, 60 years as a customer? Sorry, chum, they don’t count. Actually, it's easy - just spend £200 on booze weekly and you’ll be @Waitrose favourite customer.

Today's window on Oxford University's Adult Education Advent Calendar takes you to Wolfram Mathworld: conted.ox.ac.uk/festive/2023?u… Or this should take you there direct: mathworld.wolfram.com

Our local pharmacy has just been taken over and become a Pyramid Pharmacy and this is their logo, which might make an interesting lesson prompt:

Now I know last season wan't a dream - I've seen a boy with a Brighton shirt in Tring.

Has anyone come across a card game called Mathical Creatures? My copy doesn't have any rules, and the company [ Mathstraks.co.uk ] doesn't reply and the website and Facebook page appear to be non-functional.

Nice to hope there will be hordes of little boys playing football tomorrow - "I'm Georgia Stanway!"

My first allium of the summer - and it's a 7-pointer!

Sadly, not my record, but my rather amazing wife's. Take a bow, Jill Parr

Despite pandemics and lockdowns getting in the way I achieved this week the small ambition of being an 80-yearold maths teacher. The next target comes up in September - the 60th anniversary of my first embarrassingly inadequate lessons.

A recent nail-biting T20 contest: Bangladesh Women 255 for 2 [20 ov] Maldives Women all out for 6 in 12.1 ov. Eavesdropping on the last-wicket pair: “OK, that’s 250 in 8 overs, so we’ll need 32 an over – 4 6s and a couple of 4s should do it. Right, here we go …. Oops!”
