Did you know you can see Jupiter's moon Europa with binoculars, a camera, or a small telescope? This month's What's Up skywatching video will tell you when the best times are to capture it. science.nasa.gov/skywatching

I see the National Rail app has had its first proper makeover in what must be 10 plus years! It's a shame it doesn't tell us anything new such as how many coaches are on the service so people can plan ahead. @RealtimeTrains can do it, why can't this basic information be shown?

3) The Met are terrible at solving crime. Organisationally, there's no interest in catching thieves. There are no incentives for any cops to actually catch and prosecute someone Snatches are low priority, the Met disbanded the team specialising in it x.com/echetus/status…

2) It is very risky for a police officer to take someone off a bike. The easiest way to stop this is to knock the buggers over. But even if the rider crash and kill themselves, the cop chasing them will face years of investigation. Why take the chance? x.com/echetus/status…

A lot of replies asking why the police don't just run him over. This month, there will be a four week Gross Misconduct hearing for two cops who were pursuing a stolen vehicle which crashed and killed two people - eight years ago. Risk/Reward.

1) Theft is legal for under 18s The Tories made it very, very difficult for a court to imprison a child. Phone snatches count as thefts, which a child just won't get time for. Teenagers aren't stupid. They realise when there are no consequences x.com/echetus/status…

The government does not want children to be prosecuted for crimes. This decision was made in the early 2010s, and they have succeeded. 2011-2021: number of children in custody fell 73% 2014-2019: number of children being prosecuted fell 37%

Why is London's phone snatch problem currently so bad? I think there are three main issues at play:
