People were talking about when they first wrote code, and were throwing around numbers like 6 or 9. I was 30. It’s not magic. You do not need to apprentice to a wizard when you are 11.

Was on LinkedIn and saw one of my former students was starting on her Masters degree. I reached out to congratulate her and she said if she hadn't taken my Java course her freshmen year, she wouldn't have pushed herself in STEM.

Whoever says soft colours or pastels aren’t “real” colours for serious tech things, check out this @CERN server room. That Higgs boson data went through some hot hot pink wires; eat it haters.

The #UX tip of the day: What if we didn't have to fail fast because we became so good at listening first?

So strange I never saw people count the lines of code Steve Jobs or Elon Musk have written 🤔

A mentoring tip that's fresh on my mind today: As a mentor, your goal isn't to help your mentee become just like you, or to even follow your same career path. Instead, help them to become the best version of themselves and provide guidance to them along their journey.

Having a really hard time recently. I feel that I need to be spending all of my free time coding or blogging or creating content. And when I’m not doing those things I feel anxious and bad about myself. Not sure how to overcome those feelings 😟 Anyone else feel like this?

Building a great tech talk takes a ton of time and effort. If you enjoy a speaker’s talk, tell them! 😁

Yes. I absolutely had privilege. Yes. I knew I would lose privilege. No. I had no idea the full extent. No. Women are not making it up when they tell you the way they are ignored, undermined, talked over and passed over.

When I switched to #DevRel, people asked how I would maintain my technical chops. psst...lean in...let me tell you a lil secret... I code pretty much every day. On things that I *want* to code! Tools and techniques that *I* want to learn! It's so liberating AND I'm leveling up

facts. I stopped an interview process with a top tech company once because of the red flags shown. If it's this bad during the courting phase, imagine what it'll be like once they got you! #DodgeTheBullet

Pro tip: if you have bad gut feelings or see red flags during an interview process, you should not rationalize them away and think maybe it will be fine. It will not be fine. Trust your gut and run away
