The second chapter of my masters thesis is finally done. It's late, so I'll elaborate on our findings tomorrow! Limited genetic differentiation of Mycetomoellerius mikromelanos in Parque National Soberanía, Panama: Implications for queen dispersal onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/bt…

I had an awesome time meeting all the European Carabidologst in Budapest, learning about their research, presenting a small pop gen project, and and showing a poster on the first big chapter of my PhD thesis, Adephaga phylogenomics (focusing on Carabidae of course!). #21stECM

I had a lot of great discussion about my work in beetle evolution & museomic work @Biology24Zurich I just got 180 more specimen back from sequencin, it's a shame I couldn't include them. Next year then!

New addition to SlicerMorph: FastModelAlign. It allows you quickly register 3D models with or without scaling. Obtains really close fits, even with only partial overlap. Read more about here: discourse.slicer.org/t/new-fastmode…

So I finally learned what "Navajo" plots are called in phylogenetics. Does anyone know of a program that can do this automated (feeding it newick files or something) or does everyone do it manually/by hand?

Finally back from Prague and backing up all this MicroCT scan data. I'll be excited to start learning about proper segmentation and how to do some 3D morphological analyses! The short video is a rotating 3D microCT scan of a Calosoma Callisthenes reticulatum.

I'm working on a genome QC viz tool. This takes a set of genomes (.fasta) and finds telomeres, contig/gap positions, and spits out contiguity stats (default plot for 3 human genomes 👇). What other features would be useful? (has to be type-able with k-mers).
