Thanks @wjzeng for running the unitary.fund grant, helping push quantum computing forward.
Congratulations to @nbashige for his unitary.fund grant to develop the Avalon quantum programming language & support quantum programming communities in India and D. R. Congo! It's exciting for quantum to be accessible to the global community github.com/ntwalibas/unit…
We are very happy to introduce orqviz: An open-source Python library to flexibly visualize high-dimensional landscapes of Variational Quantum Algorithms. arxiv.org/abs/2111.04695 and github.com/zapatacomputin… Check out this thread for applications we explore in the paper. 1/6

Congratulations to Adam @adamisntdead for his excellent work on high-performance quantum simulation resulting in being granted the #unitaryfund!
His proposal will be to extend his high performance QCGPU library for simulating quantum circuits (github.com/QCGPU/qcgpu) using MPI. Congratulations @adamisntdead!
Interesting article on what to watch for in 2019. The year is starting good! factbasedinsight.com/quantum-outloo…
Interest in quantum computing is often justified by faster-than-classical quantum algorithms. But in classical computing, algorithms are just a small part of the picture. Interfaces are (at least) as important, for instance. What would a better-than-classical-interface look like?
I’m always amazed at how much you learn just by going through the motions of calculations and re-writing everything. The simple act of writing, even if it feels like copying, forces you to mull over everything, and the kinesthesia of it reinforces memory and understanding.
Quantum Quest is a very cool new web class for high school students from @michael_quantum & @enclanglement @QuSoftAmsterdam Great to see the barriers to entry in our field getting lower and lower quantum-quest.nl
If you are in Bangalore, India; we have a quantum computing meetup coming up this Saturday 22nd in Old Airport road. Will introduce the basics and main concepts including core algorithms. The event page lives at facebook.com/events/3642685…. Hope to see you there!
Thank you @nick_farina I'm also looking forward to see what we can all do together as a community in quantum programming.
hey! congrats @nbashige, looking forward to seeing your work, and great to see support from unitary.fund on important vision!
New preprint by @preskill summarizes work he's done with Stephen Jordan, Hari Krovi, and Keith Lee on simulating quantum field theory with a quantum computer. arxiv.org/abs/1811.10085

I'll take this as another example of a faster classical algorithm that was discovered because of ideas from quantum computing.
Wow -- the famous HHL algorithm doesn't actually need a quantum computer! arxiv.org/abs/1811.04909 Another quantum algorithm bites the dust thanks to Ewin Tang's "dequantization" arguments
