This is a very good paper. 😬 Our method permits using more information than the usual event-study approaches, and so is generally more efficient. It can lose efficiency compared with pooled OLS/ETWFE in the staggered case, but the benefit is applying any TE estimator you want.

Exciting News! My working paper with @jmwooldridge is now available on SSRN. "A Simple Transformation Approach to Difference-in-Differences Estimation for Panel Data." Link: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf… Any feedback would be greatly appreciated 😊 #FirstTweet #PanelData #DiD

🚨New comparative study describing the distinct factors associated with fertility decline in India. Happy to have worked on this with @naraepark_econ @SangitaV_ and Dean Spears.

India recently reached sub-replacement fertility w/ little change in women’s age at marriage or first birth. A comparative study of 77 HICs and LMICs reveals the distinct patterns of India’s fertility transition. #poptwitter demographic-research.org/volumes/vol48/…

Super excited to see this paper w/ @KathrynBollman in print in the AEA P&P @AEAjournals! We find that the negative relationship between private school enrollment and the severity of parental disability is stronger for children with *more* educated fathers

I thought about trying to get off the treadmill this summer, but not yet. The next version of my DiD workshop is online, June 8/9. All proceeds go toward supporting a reduced workload for first-year MSU PhD students. @MSUEconomics econ.msu.edu/estimate/index…

Guess the first topic of my applied course in the spring? Last year it was Poisson regression vs log(1 + y). I’ll throw in some two-part strategies this year as I didn’t get to that in the microeconometrics course.

I sat in on two mock interviews for MSU JMCs this year -- both candidates broadly in environmental. Elise Breshears focuses on energy issues and Andrew Earle on public land usage and demand for resources. As a bonus, they're both excellent applied econometricians! Links here:

So I found this children’s book at my parents’ house (which they would read to me) about a dog who was an economics professor before being fired for acting like a dog. I think this may have inadvertently had a huge influence on my life 😂
