The Michigan Reading Recovery community owes a lifetime of gratitude to Dr. Lee Skandalaris. Her leadership and dedication to early literacy paved the way for thousands of children to learn to read and write. Her legacy lives on in all of us @rrcna_org @troyschools
One week into March is Reading Month and we’re celebrating book completion! Students sign their name and celebrate their reading life! 📚 #wassreaders
Congrats to all the incredible Red Hawk women power lifters and amazing coaches! Super proud of Caroline! Way to go Athens! State Champs! @bcubitt
Varsity Women State Champions!! 🥇#Dangerous @AHS_Athletics22 @troy_athens @TSD_Athletics
Attention all humans…not just teachers and football players. Thank you to all educators who love the profession we chose and continue to show up for our students and families every day. I admire you all💙
So much literacy learning when students match letters to the alphabet chart! “I have two of the same letter.” “Oh, watch. If you turn it, it becomes a different letter!” Learning all about features of a letter, letter formation, directionality, letter sound, & picture clue!
This is the “Hollywood Walk of Fame” @wasswolves style! Proud to know and work with each of these educators in a profession I am proud to be a part of. They aren’t permanent gold stars cemented into the sidewalk, but they should be! 💙
As a Reading Recovery teacher I can prompt the student to check the picture first or I can ask the student to look at letter sounds first. It’s individualized instruction & the ultimate goal is always that the word solving makes sense, sounds right AND looks right @rrcna @TCRWP
One way Fifth grade writers are celebrating their informational writing through the Lens of History Unit of Study is with the Ticket To Ride game!Collaboration and teamwork in action to see who will complete their train routes first! @TCRWP @WassWolves
This was the last @WassWolves runner to cross the finish line at our school fundraiser. Last doesn’t mean worst. It means he persevered, even when it got hard! Our cheering corner is the most wonderful place to hang out! Our students are amazing! 💙
A first grader in U.S. makes 5 months growth in reading from beginning to middle of school year. My students in Reading Recovery made 10-13 months growth in that same amount of time, partnered with amazing classroom teachers & Tier 1 curriculum! @rrcna_org @TCRWP
Balanced readers learn to be flexible word solvers, using what they know about letters, sounds & word parts while integrating meaning and structure. #balancedliteracy #msv @rrcna_org
A beautiful record of a balanced reader…using all her strategies to read more complex texts. This brought me joy today! @rrcna #balancedliteracy #teachthereader
Such a celebration of reading and our @wasswolves readers! Thank you @RMMachesky & @PrincipalJansen and our amazing Wass Staff! 🥰📚❤️
@RMMachesky kicks off #marchisreadingmonth with @WassWolves with our first #readaloud. Thanks for sharing your 💙 of reading with us! #readingisagift @troyschools
You never know who you might run into at Barnes and Noble! This @WassWolves was just hanging with her family, browsing through some great books! Made my day!
So very proud of the Athens students, staff and community raising $117,706.46 for Alex’s Saints Foundation, the recipient of this year’s Charity Week. 💛❤️
Thankful that work brought me back to my old high school today @troy_athens. We’re covering their annual charity week reveal, which this year is raising money for a cause that hits close to home. Hear the full story today at 5:45 on @wxyzdetroit.
Amazing team delivering a powerful message at #K8LitCon today! Looking forward to hearing all about it.
